Having A Joyful Mission of Abundance: 3 Ways to Frame Your Vision

I spoke of in a previous post, about having a Vision, really of abundance, as it related to goals. Briefly i discussed goals as merely a subset of the larger vision of a life with a purpose, an abundant life which should be a Mission for your eternal pursuits.

However, in this ego-driven culture, Mission is often left to those ‘starving artist” and those who dedicate their selves to helping those in need in some remote part of the world or in some place of dire need in our own country and the most intriguing aspect is that we often look upon those types as lacking abundance.

When we look at Mission then in the eyes of a cynical world, and with an ego that is constantly looking out for your own interest, it seems that a Mission of Abundance is not really something that everyone is involved in, or should be, for far too many have corrupted the very meaning of the word.

The Universe Makes No Mistakes

The eternal creator of the universe did not set us adrift to be at the whim of a society that cares not but, in the eternal scheme of it all, desires nothing more than people with vision to lead them into a new age of enlightenment.

Here is where the ego usually shuts the discussion down as enlightenment, vision and a Mission of Abundance is certainly not practical. To the egoic mind that desires only to keep you forever tied to the past and worried about the future in a way to keep you focused on self-preservation, there will certainly be no talk of a Mission outside of yourself, for that is the very act of acknowledging an eternal presence that has no place in the ego-centric mind.

Yes, seek personal abundance but this Mission stuff is “out there” and reality is nothing more than your failures of the past and of the future, which is always to be worried about.

3 Ways to Be Confident and Joyful in Your Mission of Abundance

Way 1: Know That You Are Worthy of Abundance and That it is Your Mission

Often the heartaches of the past, the ego will tell you, would not even allow you to think that YOU, of all people, could have a Mission of Abundance that could impact the world. This is precisely why you should think of a Mission of Abundance for your life and more importantly how you could impact others in your thinking and your actions.

Yes, it is tied to Vision and the two are usually so interwoven that it seems to be a daunting task to even conceive of it.

Way 2: Know That You Can Change the World With Your Mission of Abundance

The ego tells you that you are not worthy for greatness, that you can’t change the world, that “out there” pursuits are best left to those who are rich, or are crafty or whatever else the ego tells you to disavow that need within divinely given to you to create.

The ego is crafty as them all by telling you that until you get to a certain status, income or whatever, that this Mission stuff be best left to those who have the ability to do so.

Way 3: Know That Your Small Role Can be The Star Performance

In the theatre, there is a much heralded saying that says, “There are no small parts, only small actors.” Of course, it has been misused as a quote used to those who get small parts in a production who desired bigger roles, but the concept is not without merit.

I learned the lesson early on in my fledgling acting career when i, too, desired a bigger part but, instead, got a smaller role. In a sense, it was that role that turned on a switch for me as i discovered the power that having a smaller part in a show could truly manifest opportunities for greatness. It was as if the pressure of not having a bigger role opened me up to becoming great at the role i was given.

So the truth is to become great at the role you are given.

I illustrated this point to a cast of actors during a production once. It seemed they were being a bit disrespectful to the backstage crew, essentially being talent-snobs, as i would call them.

I set out to prove the dynamic of the lesson of each part of the show being a vital part of the total production. I told the actors that they would do the show at the rehearsal while the crew was watching since they seemed to be able to do it without anyones support.

As the show progressed, the actors struggled doing all of the things they took for granted that the crew did to make them look good.

It proved a point that those actors learned about appreciation for all who were involved in the show at every level. There is even a larger lesson that came from that lesson, and that was appreciation for the Mission in general.

The ego is such a controlling core that appreciation is lost for living in general. Life is a struggle, the ego tells you, and there is no way to appreciate EVERYTHING.

This is at the very core of your Mission of Abundance. Appreciation for the journey and for the freedom to allow the Mission of Abundance to become you in every way..

Be a Person of Quality. Direct Your Power.

Until then…

The Art of Motivation: 3 Ways To Treat It As A Reality Show

Motivation comes in all shapes and sizes and, quite frankly, you can never really tell what it is that motivates someone, as it is not a one-size-fits-all frame of mind.

Everyone has a different place where motivation seems to hit them and to try to fit the very word of Motivation into a preconceived idea that fits the masses, is a crazy concept.

But we seem to do it.

The way most parents seem to motivate their kids, the way managers motivate their staff and the way advertisers use different tactics on us to motivate consumers to buy.

In any political season, especially, you see what seems to be a mass motivation for candidates that propel is to care about issues that other times we don’t concern ourselves with as we are on the daily mission to simply live in the Universal Way of abundance.

Motivation: Running To or Running Away

At its core, Motivation is the designation of one of two possible concepts; the running away from something or the running to something. And more often than not, they are aimed directly at our insecurities about ourselves or our situation. Basically, our ego.

Now, don’ get me wrong here. Motivation at its core has a place but should come from a far deeper place than the egoic tendency of appealing to some insecurity. Motivation is really a larger look at who we are in the Universal Way.

I love reality shows. I do. I watch most of the main ones from Survivor to Amazing Race to Top Chef and Hells Kitchen, Celebrity Apprentice to even, Big Brother. Reality shows are a study of the human ego on trial and believe it or not, Motivation is the glue that holds it all together. Motivation is also on display as the way people run from a situation or run to a situation or other people.

What i love about the shows is that they offer a compressed look at what is usually played out in life, but it is in a heightened atmosphere of loss and reward.

Life is the same way, it just plays out at a more casual level unless we are ‘forced’ out of our comfort zone and have to act, or should i say, react.

Ways Reality Shows Can Show Us Motivation

While some may roll their eyes at reality shows, like it or not, they give is a peak into our own psychology of the way we might me motivated.

Believe it or not, there is a lot of psychology that has gone into the way the game is structured; to the way the people are separated into groups to the challenges that are devised along the way for ‘rewards’.

With that there are lessons, or takeaways, that we can apply to our own reality show called our lives.

Way 1: Look at the Way You are Motivated to Play the Game.

It is funny to watch the reality players enter with a certain ‘strategy’ and then as soon as they get there, all of a sudden there is some twist or some quirky personality they had not intended on and their strategy goes out the window.

The challenge with strategies is that they are often like playing sand volleyball. The shifting sand always presents a challenge as to how you will react and it is only after years of playing that someone seems to master the concepts.

The way you play the game is a reflection of who you are. If you go in with a set core strength as to who you are, there is no need for strategies. You operate from your center and you are free to adapt to changing circumstances as they arise. You then take the reaction and change it to positive action.

Way 2: What is the Motivation of Who You Make Alliances With?

It always intrigues me when these reality players within the first microsecond of starting the game, decide to forge an alliance not even knowing who is playing along side of them. They like the way they look, or talk or whatever, and decide to cast their lot with them. What is always amazing is when it comes to the end of the game and the people who were sent packing from the game decide to cop an attitude form someone who went against the alliance.

Really? it is a game and there can be only one left standing. The ego always lashes out when it thinks it is being attacked. But what is really happening is that the ego needs to be always first and when someone stands in its way, then it becomes insulted.

Life is like that as well. We make shaky alliances that go against our core and then we are ‘thrown under the bus’ because of those alliances, we blame the alliance, the people, the way the game is played…everything but the person in the mirror.

By the way, I am of the mindset that when they interview folks for the reality shows, a question they ask them is that, when they were a kid, were they told to be good sports if playing a game? If the answer is “No” they get to be on the show.

Don’t fall victim to being a victim of alliances you have made. Be strong to who your core self is.

Way 3: What is the Motivation for You to Change Your Way of Playing?

There comes a point where we have to adapt, to change, to evolve to a higher level of life, of living. It is really our driving desire to become more than we think we are.

To truly think outside of yourself. It is only the acceptance of the lack attitude that keeps you where you are. The attitude that doesn’t give you the Motivation to move forward as you have seemed to have lost your zeal for doing so.

In reality shows, there are usually alliances, teams that ‘stick together’ through thick or thin, or until its time to win.

The last season of Survivor had a beautiful portrayal of that very point. The one team had gotten the upper hand on the other by a one person shift to their side and managed to pick off the opposing team one-by-one until they were left by themselves to fight it out to the end.

At that point, someone had to decide to change their strategy and make bold moves to Outwit and Outplay the rest. The “this-team-loves-each-other-no-matter-what-happens’ became the most cut-throat bunch that ever played the game. Someone had to be motivated beyond the team and reach within themselves to get to the end.

In life, the motivation really is to keep our truth and be able to adapt to the shifting sands of time. Examine what it is that motivates you to change your strategy, but always be sure it is not something that goes against your core values.

In the end, it is always the ones with the quiet resolve that tend to garner the respect of the other players. It is you inner core values of who you are, without the ego, that defines your truth.

Live it with the fullness that you are for you are truly worth it.

Be Excellent, Expect the Best!

Mindfulness and Living With Vision

As humans with stories that we tell that become our existence, not only do we become those stories, but we use them as a way to define moments lived solely in the future. The future becomes a continuation of the stories and not a place lived in love, a place lacking a Vision or mission. The future is then the ever-present reality of that place we are always striving for in the past.

While it is mindful to imagine a future filled with things, as it is the human condition to have goals, there is a danger here. Goals are not Vision, but are merely subsets thereof. It is in the bible that the words are penned, “Where there is no vision, the people perish” but here is the distinction.

As creatures of expansion, as has been given to us by our creator and is the way of the universe, we sometimes mistake Goals for Vision. You can have a goal to make a certain amount of money, but that is just a thing, a tangible object that defines your pursuit.

But Vision is completely different; the definition, besides the obvious of someone seeing, is:

1. Unusual competence in discernment or perception; intelligent foresight: a leader of vision.
2. The manner in which one sees or conceives of something.
3. A mental image produced by the imagination.
4. The mystical experience of seeing as if with the eyes the supernatural or a supernatural being.

You see, Vision carries an extra dynamic and has all of the component of mindfulness built into it. Vision is that process of not just seeing some thing to be obtained, but really a larger-than-yourself experience to better the human condition.

Vision carries the very presence of living completely in the Present Moment because, quite frankly, when you think in a supernatural realm, you intrinsically know that there is only this Now Moment to achieve Vision. It seems like a dichotomy, two especially mutually exclusive or contradictory concepts, that cannot possibly work together.

How can having a Vision to change the world NOT be totally future based?

For the simple reason that when you release the ego and go outside yourself, there is only a passion that must live in this Present Moment alone. You have only this Present Moment alone to be the person of change, the person of Vision. You must first be that vision for yourself, and then it becomes the driving force for living life.

In the concept of a theatrical experience, Goals would be like opening a show, Opening Night, while the vision would be to change the way the very experience of theatre is perceived to the people you serve. You introduce art and beauty to a world that maybe had limited, if any, exposure prior to this point.

That is Vision. To raise the experience of the beauty of art to another level that transcends the Opening Night experience. The Vision then becomes a mission to impact the human condition.

Remember as you create goals, that it is really about having a Vision for who you are as a person of quality. Be more than merely goals. Become the Vision and lose your ego to the greater good. Then you will truly experience beauty in living, a true love for life.
