3 Ways To Begin With A Great Attitude

When a Director sits down with his theatrical production staff and they set out to begin the process of producing the next show to be done (usually the plays are chosen in advance, a season at a time, but the process is the same), the very first thing they look at is the attitude of the theatre-going public that is their audience.

The question to ask essentially is “What is it that they will desire to see?”

As in anything, it is a focused intensity to really know what your audience will pay to see. You see, when doing a community theatre production, you must put in a season of shows that have name recognition and are intriguing enough to get the casual play-goer a desire to see what it is you are offering. Yes, in a season, you may have one show that tends to be more edgy because the rest of the season can support it. But the season must be geared towards a complete experience that caters to your audience.

From there, they look to the general “attitude” of each individual show itself. Is it a musical, a drama, a comedy? What are the characters like and what kinds of attitude are they looking to from those who audition?

As a Director, you always have a concept of the part, not of who should be playing the part so much, as every actor brings a different attitude to the role, but the general overall attitude of the role. I have cast people who were not as good of singers in a musical, for example, but brought a tremendous chemistry, an overall attitude, to the role. This could make all the difference in the way a play is perceived.

It is is same as you begin to look at an opportunity or challenge that you face. As stated previously, it is the questions you ask at the beginning that help you frame the task ahead, such as is life.

The key here is the attitude you bring to the questions, as well as the answers, and it is crucial that you approach opportunities and challenges with a superb attitude.

Your Attitude Determines Your Altitude

There is an old maxim that goes, “Your Attitude determines your Altitude” and it goes without saying that if you don’t bring a great attitude into the challenge/opportunity, then there is not much chance that you will succeed at the task.

Why? Because if you are not fully invested with an incredible passion for the answers your questions pose, then why bother in the first place?

I am speaking from experience here. I’ve learned the hard way that by not being honest with yourself and by not living in this Now Moment by asking great questions and having an attitude that accompanies the answers that you know the universe will give you, then there is an expectation that will never be fulfilled.

Inevitably, there will be failure, which leads to a myriad of domino-like attitudes about yourself that doom most Now Moment living.

3 Ways to Adopt A Dynamic Attitude

Way 1: Find the parts of the challenge/opportunity that create a passion in you.

Yes, even with challenges there are elements within the challenge that do indeed inspire you. It may be nothing more than the person that is involved with you, but whatever that dynamic is, find that part and seize it. That is the aspect of any challenge or opportunity that will give you a laser-like focus until the end

Way 2: After aligning your passion point, now frame it as a pursuit.

Let me explain. I have developed within myself a disdain for the word….work. I no longer look towards work but, instead, look to the word, Pursuit. Reason being is that within the word pursuit is the definition, “the act of striving” and one dictionary has attached to it, zeal. So no longer are you working at something. Instead, have a “zeal” for it.

Find that part that drives you and pursue it

Way 3: After zoning in on your zeal, “audition” the people and other aspects needed to get you to opening night with style.

Remember, it is all about the attitude and not always is the most obvious choice the right one for you. Look at the attitude of whoever you bring on and will they bring that same attitude to the part you give them. Consequently, will you be able to derive a sense of attitude from other elements of the challenge/opportunity. Is that attitude suitable to you?

Again, the most obvious choice is not always the one that brings you a great attitude. It is all about creating an attitude of gratitude for the zeal of the challenge/opportunity at hand.

Create a great attitude and the results will be manifest from the universal realm. It is a universal law.

Clarity, Focus and Personal Improvement: 3 Ways to Maintain Growth

Face it, we are overwhelmed with instantaneous news and content that blasts our senses with information at such a rapid pace, it is a wonder we get anything done at all. It is almost as though, in the world of smartphones, tablets and instant everything, clarity seems to mean overload.

It as if we are being told that unless we have the information we need RIGHT NOW, we can’t function in today’s modern society. Clarity, vision and personal improvement, it seems, hinge on the amount of information you have, not the simplicity of it all.

You Kids, Get Off My Lawn

Now, trust me, I am not a “You kids get of my lawn” kind of guy. I am a tech person thru-and-thru. I love gadgets and, quite frankly do all my pursuits online and with technology, so I understand the temptation to depend on your very thinking with the overload that is today’s world.

But as I sit and type this, I look out my window on what appears to be a beautiful, sunny day. But what the sun is masking in all of its information overload is that when I step outside to go on my daily bike ride, the sun didn’t tell me it was a bit chilly and that the shirt i was wearing wasn’t quite enough to keep me comfortable.

You see, the sun overloaded my senses with its brightness but failed to give me clarity. It was only until I garnered my own experience and perspective, did I see the usefulness of clarity. It was only when I set about on my personal improvement of my desire to keep an active regiment, in this case by riding my bike, did i understand that i needed to protect myself from the chill of the morning.

3 Ways to Maintain Clarity and Focus and Personal Improvement

It seems that many are hyper-focused on “getting it right”, whatever that means, and setting goals and plans with dreams of riches and success and for the “good life’, what ever that is defines for you.

Way 1: Decide What is Right For You

Just Like the sun overload as i set out to ride my bike, I allowed a perceived message of clarity to decide for me as to what was going to be comfortable for me to ride.

But really needed to happen here was that i needed to just put on my sunglasses and decide for myself what was what i needed to ride in comfort.

The same goes for you. Sometimes it means to you need to put on the shades and block out the rays of confusion that may be trying to give you false information that is right for you.

This is the only Now Moment you have and it is the time when clarity and focus  is not decided by the world telling you that this or that must be done or is right for you. Maybe some things can be put on the back burner. Maybe it s time to refocus.

You decide for you for that is the source of joy.

Way 2: Your Goals and Dreams are Opening Nights; The Clarity and Focus of Now is All That Matters

Remember that your goals are Opening Nights. They are out there only as a reminder that you want to be ready when the curtain finally opens, but the only time the curtain is going to matter is in this Now Moment.

You see, your Opening Night just doesn’t matter if the rehearsals were not filled with a clarity and focus that allowed for the excellence of getting your part in the production down.

Way 3: Your Clarity, Focus and Personal Improvement Lifts All Others Around You

The Now Moment is when you are clear and focused on your part only. It is the time to make sure you are comfortable in your own skin. When you seek to improve yourself and seek a clarity and focus about yourself, then you tend to see others as a chance to become better as well. You will find the best in others when you are doing so within first.

On stage the other actors in your play may surprise you in their acting from time to time, but you will never be thrown off as you know YOU so well that you can get them back on track, if needed. When you know the show so well that you have every ones part ingrained as well, you can help guide and actor back on track within the confines of the script.

Clarity, Focus and Personal Improvement are the three sides of the triangle that keep you grounded in this Now Moment, so, put on your sun glasses and decide for yourself that this is the moment that matters most.

Set Opening Night, but don’t live there. Forgive the rehearsal nights of the past that may have been “off” as we all have off nights where it seems as if we just don’t have a rhythm.

That’s the beauty of rehearsal, to become excellent in this Now Moment. Make clarity, focus and personal improvement your triangle that envelops your success and your Opening Nights will be filled with accolades.

Be a Person of Quality. Direct Your Power.

Being Mindful in Your Mission; 3 Ways to Dismiss Worry

There is nothing that can invade the mindfulness of a true Present Moment thinker such as worry.

It is that egoic nature that can take the tranquility of the present Now Moment and give the ego complete and total charge of all that surrounds your Mission.

Worry, that ever-present reality, it seems, for most as they travel from Now Moment to Now Moment.

But why is that?

In a study i read recently, it was stated that a mere 8% of things people worried about actually manifested as reality. I would add that of that 8%, probably most things were so desired, worried about, that they were going to happen no matter what.

So what does that tell us?

It tells us that we are so desperate to desire some unforeseen future that we will manifest it even to the detriment of our very existence.

It tells us that the ego will go to extreme lengths to keep a hold on you, because worry is such as life itself. You forget about the actuality of that which might happen for the understanding that it might happen.

Essentially, most are in such a common place of worry that when one thing happens that they have indeed worried about, it becomes 100%. It happened just as you thought it would and now the ego can use it to bolster its claim on you as the defender of your safety.

One Bad Apple Spoils the Whole Bunch

In the world of theatre, it is as i have seen. An actor has an overall great performance and one person out of a hundred tells them that they didn’t like their performance.

One person! Guess what happens?

That’s correct my young Jedi, they obsess about the one comment, not taking into context at all why that one person didn’t like it, as if it matters. But i have seen a single bad comment take an actor and make them doubt themselves because they worry about another comment to the point that their performance suffers. So the very thing they worry about does indeed manifest.

Worry, really then, is all about the ego. The funny thing is that we have all done it, have we not? Because worry brings forth doubt in ourselves and our situation, we then define ourselves by the very worry we are in any moment we decide to commit ourselves to it. Even more bizarre is our capacity to see others commit themselves to worry and tell them not to.

But since the ego is really at the heart of worry, how can we make sense of it all? Worry is a natural part of life, is it not? I mean, our very existence is given images of worry in every facet of living by our news media alone.

The media feeds on worry and 90% of commercials are worry about some future event happening in your life if you don’t use their product. I have even seen a pill you can take in case you might have heartburn in the future. I am not kidding.

What is the number one cause of heart troubles in the USA alone? Stress. What is stress usually caused by? Worry about some future outcome.

I had a coaching client who recently came to a session in tears. Her daughter was in the midst of a divorce and she was “worried” about the grandchildren and the long-term affect on them.

As i probed deeper, as that must always be done with worry, it came out that it her daughter’s divorce was somehow a reflection on her. Her parenting, her life in general.

Her ego had so encased her in worry and how it was somehow an attack on her very core, that some perceived outcome with her grandchildren was keeping now keeping her in a state of worry about some unknown future.

You see how clever worry is used by the ego? Ultimately, most worry is somehow an attack on YOU and must be dealt with. Just the absurdity of it all makes most laugh but it is an ever-present danger within us all if we are not vigilant in keeping worry at bay.

Living in the Present Moment is freedom from worry but takes a conscious effort to rid yourself of the egoic nature that inhabits the very core of worry.

3 Ways to Begin the Process Dismissing Worry in Your Mission

Way 1: When Worry is Presented as an Option, Play it Out to its End.

What do i mean by that?

Be an actor and write the script. Take the object of worry and make a play out of it, which is what worry is, by the way.

The ego makes a whole play out that you actually believe. This time, however, you write it in your head with whatever far-fetched conclusion that could happen.

Make a game of it.

There is an old saying that you “illustrate absurdity by being absurd” and this is what is the intent. When you see the ridiculousness of all that must happen for the worry to become manifest, it really is quite amusing.

Way 2: Be Ever-Present Within this Now Moment

Decide that you are going to be ever-present in this Now Moment and that worry will not determine a future that does not exist. Just the very act of making a solid commitment will alert you when worry rears its ugly head.

Way 3: Acknowledge that the Ego Exists But Relegate it to the Mailroom of “You, Inc.”

Now, that might seem a bit strange, but if you treat the ego as it should be, as nothing more than someone from the mailroom, instead of the CEO of the company known as YOU, then you will go far in abating worry.

The ego will tell you all kinds of things to supposedly be in your best interest, but what the ego is trying to do is to be the one who makes all the decisions for you. The sad part is that most allow the ego to be in charge.

Take back the night, here. The ego HATES Now Moment living and by keeping you in a constant state of worry about the future gives it full control. Be better than that. Be ever-present in the Now.

Worry is the beast that will rear its ugly head in your life and you must be aware, but it is a beast that can be eradicated.

As far as worry goes, former Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli was quoted as saying, “Worry (the ego) – a God, invisible but omnipotent. It steals the bloom from the cheek and lightness from the pulse; it takes away the appetite, and turns the hair gray.”

Be better than the worry you allow into your life.

Preparation of a Life Well Lived: 3 Ways to Frame the Process

There is an old expression that says that Victory Loves Preparation, and to a degree, that is true.

But where this saying goes awry is the way folks go through extremes to plan their lives out to the minute details desiring to influence the process in such a way that if it doesn’t go according to plans, then all kinds of discourse then ensues. Life then becomes one disappointment after another in that it should be as the ego has decided for you and if it is not, then you are being slighted.

This gives you all kinds of excuses, then, to not live in a way that truly means that you are going in the way the river is flowing. You are living a way that comes naturally without a struggle against the current.

The Reality Is That The Future Doesn’t Yet Exist

This is where i lose many in the discussion because they look at people who are Present Moment thinkers as ‘Pie in the Sky’ types who are not grounded in reality; The reality of planning to the detail a future that does not exist except in the minds of those that desire it.

You see the disconnect here?

Of course we are expansive creatures always conceiving expansion for ourselves and for those around us, but there is the place that most succumb to the ego. While the ego is there for the betterment of self, it hardly desires expansion of others as it might somehow take away form it.

When you are ever-present in the Now Moment, you are aware of the possibilities for yourself and for those who surround you as you are aware that a rising tide lifts all boats. Life then becomes a beautiful ride on a river with others who are enjoying the ride with you.

So how do we make the leap from living in a detailed account of a future yet lived to an existence where we are ever-aware of the beautiful possibilities that are in this Present Moment alone.

3 Ways to Frame the Process of Preparation of a Life Well Lived

I remember the first time i saw a movie based on H.G. Wells, Time Machine. What struck me as a kid that seemed to give me an early view of Now Moments was that when the time machine would travel back and forth in time, it was not hurled into someplace into the future. Time passed all around the time machine right where it was. It seemed that H.G. Wells understood quantum physics even if he didn’t realize it.

Time passes as a series of Now Moments lived with an expectation that better surroundings will overtake our time machine as well. It is up to us to become an active participant of the Now Moments we are in.

Way 1: Understand that the Journey of a Thousand Miles Begins with a Single Step.

Actors know the process of rehearsing once they are into it and understand that it is the rehearsal that gives any performance its truth. It takes great actors a total immersion into each Now Moment to give a riveting performance when the cameras roll or the curtain is opened.

It would be beautiful if we had a time machine and were able to propel us into the future where we would have a desire to be manifested, but we have to inch ourselves along.

But really do we desire that? Think about repeats of TV shows and movies you have seen. I mean the thrill is gone if you have seen it right? OK, maybe Star War is exempt here, but really, think about a thriller you have seen and you have a friend that has not. they tell you ‘not to spoil it for them’ right?

The joy truly is in the journey, but it is our journey to live with a passion for excellence.

Way 2: It Is Self Betterment That We Desire

Often times, i am asked to categorize the posts i write and will the obvious choice is Self Improvement, or Self Help, i really look to it as Self Betterment. It is my mindset that improvement is so subjective and is often used by others to direct you in some way, or tell you to improve yourself.

You don’t need to improve, or help yourself. It is the betterment of yourself for the larger vision that matters. Betterment is so internal as it describes something that we seek to become more aware of. When i would direct actors, it is not that the constant rehearsal of a scene improved them as an actor, it made them a better person as well as a performer.

Way 3: Leave Judgement to Others for it is Not Your Destiny

I believe that when you take it upon yourself to judge situations and others in any way, you are not judging them, but you are making a judgement on your view of the world and the possibilities for a life well lived.

Why is it that we are think we are here to judge how anyone desires to live their lives? Yes, parents guide so as to give their children a way to make beautiful choices, but why do we feel the need to become “The De-Terminator” for every ones journey?

It is as if some we become some machine gun welding robot with our words and thoughts by thinking that by judging the journey of others and making some determination on their intent, we are ‘helping’ them by talking about them behind their back.

We are helping our ego to become more inflated as we would never do anything like that, right?

Everyone is on their own journey and it is up to us to live in a way that when our time machine comes to rest, a paradise awaits us from the preparation we gave to every Now Moment along the way.

There is an old saying that goes, “No one cares how much you know unless they know how much you care. When you can be the one who cares and not cross over into judgement, you will indeed lift all boats that surround you on your journey to a higher level in your wake.

It is Nature. it is Nurture. It is the Preparation of a Life well Lived.

Upgrade Your Game Characters; 3 Tips to Upgrade Your Life

If you have every played any video game whatsoever, be it a simple flash game or a full-blown immersing experience with a game console, then you know that the object of any video game is to move your character through the gaming platform on some type of mission.

Be it a quest or a shoot-em-up, the experience is basically designed around your characters gaining of points in whatever form that takes, and then Upgrading your guns, shielding, skills or whatever to become better as the levels become more difficult.

The point here is to be constantly Upgrading yourself to prepare yourself for the upcoming battles within the game.

Such is life.

The very experiences of life are nothing more than the constant Upgrading of your ever-increasing skill set that advances you to the next level of play. That is the nature of schooling, (well it was the original intent) but to prepare you by advancing your skill sets in tiny little increments so that when you are ‘all grown up’, you are ready for the world.

As a director, it was my pursuit to guide the actors from one skill set of not being confident in their abilities to even read the dialog convincingly, to another, being able to stand on stage and perform so as to move the audience in the way the play was intended.

Such is life.

You see, we are always to be expanding ourselves in such a way so as to Upgrade ourselves to the next level. It is what we were designed to do by our Creator, it is the very nature of the universe itself – expansion.

This is the danger of our modern-day thinking that everything should be provided for us. This is the tenants of Communism and Socialism in that, the premise is that if everything is provided, then we are just naturally happy.

The opposite is true.

Loss Aversion

As a Strategic Life Coach, i have see transformations in people who, by and large, are seeking just that. Most who desire coaching understand that they need to indeed Upgrade themselves but they are usually, by nature, people of character already that demand that of themselves. They have just stalled on a level and need to see other possibilities so as to be able to Upgrade.

I seldom coach anyone who has decided that the government or that some ‘job’ should give them security in some respect. People who are looking for constant security are the very ones who usually don’t seem to have it in any way in their lives.

It is called Loss Aversion, or simply put, an attitude of lack. The very nature of always looking for security is the admitting to yourself that you are lacking and all you are really doing is trying not to lose anything.

So, Loss Aversion refers to people’s tendency to strongly prefer avoiding losses than to acquiring gains. Some studies suggest that losses are twice as powerful, psychologically, as gains. This then leads to Risk Aversion when people evaluate a possible gain; since people prefer avoiding losses to making gains.

Essentially, it comes from a lack attitude. You prefer to not Upgrade.

If you were playing some game that was a shoot-em-up, essentially, you would just hide behind some wall so you would not take the chance on getting shot. You would never gains points to later upgrade your shielding, your guns, or gain more lives in the game. You prefer to be lacking as it serves you, for whatever reason.

3 Tips to Set the Course to Upgrade Your Life

Tip 1: Understand that Your Were Designed to Always Be Upgrading

If, for whatever reason, you have become stagnant in your pursuit from a career standpoint, or in a personal endeavor, then you need to stop and look to see if you, not any other person, place or thing, have decided to ‘hide behind a wall’. Really ask yourself if you are in someway practicing Loss Aversion and why?

You see, it is a simple thing to blame someone else, or some condition, for your inability to desire to Upgrade. It is just easier sometimes to wait it out behind the wall of life and hope you don’t have to bother with it. But we were not designed that way.

When your green you are growing, when you are ripe, you are rotten.

Tip 2: Be Willing to Change the Dynamics of the Game

I look at this as a reboot of sorts. When a computer virus infects your computer and things seem to begin to act badly within the system, you have to essentially give the old system an enema to flush out the virus.

Heck, Scotty and Geordi La Forge were always doing it on the Enterprise in Star Trek. Rebooting the warp core because some alien was trying to muck up the works.

Sometimes we have to understand if some alien is trying to do the same to us. However, most of the time, the alien is us. Our thinking has become so pointed to some type of Loss Aversion that we stop Upgrading.

Oh, it is not that you aren’t capable, we all are. It is that you have decided to just not do so. You have to be willing to say, ‘I need an Upgrade and I am willing to shake up things so it happens.’

What ever you have to do, this Now Moment is the time it happens. If you can’t decide to move from behind that wall Now, then don’t bother. The decision is always Now.

Tip 3: Commit to the Upgrade

This is the step where so many fall back behind the wall on.

They know they need to Upgrade. They have identified the challenge that is preventing them from Upgrading, but they have decided not to commit to it. They peek out from behind the wall, take a couple of shots, then go back behind the wall and tell themselves that, this too, isn’t working. They then presume it is everything else that is causing them to not advance, even the wall itself.

But the wall doesn’t care if you advance or not. It is just there, as are most of you perceived challenges. They are just there.

It is as if you have to almost take a “Butch and Sundance” approach to it all.

At the end of the classic movie, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, the two were pinned down by the Mexican army, on their last rounds of ammunition. The last scene showed them just charging out from behind the walls of the building and then the scene froze as we heard the sounds of gunfire erupt.

They committed to the upgrade!

So, too, should you. It could just become the most exhilarating and liberating experience of your life.

We are not in this life to become complacent, to not Upgrade, or to become so engrossed in a security mindset that we forget about living. You are a creature of expansion. Live as such.

Be a Person of Quality. Direct Your Power.

An Attitude of Gratitude; 5 Ways to Live There

I recently attended a birthday party for a young boy who was turning 9 years young. The time for presents had come and as the presents were presented, the young boy tore into the packages with glee, but i noticed something lacking in its intensity.

An Attitude of Gratitude

Now, don’t get me wrong here, i would not assume an mature aspect of living to a child that has yet to embrace the concept of gratitude. At that point in their life, is it not all about a concept of “me” and the things that “me” wants?

Not so sure of that.

I questioned myself as to when an Attitude of Gratitude is indeed instilled. I mean, is it like a switch that is turned on at a certain time? It seems to be like many other rather insane held beliefs in our society. Ones like, ‘You are 18 today, you are now a man’, as many young boys have heard. Again, like a switch is turned on and you ‘become’ a man just like that.

There are countless others that i am sure you have heard, but is having an Attitude of Gratitude one that ‘just happens’?

Again, i am not so sure of that.

it is something that must fully manifest, but, it is my belief, that it must be nurtured and not coerced within us. Not the obligatory ‘love’ you must have for a relatives gift that you are instructed to be thankful for, but true, honest and heartfelt gratitude for the living of life

5 Ways to Instill the Journey of an Attitude of Gratitude

Way 1: It is Thee, not Me

When directing, i would tell the actors a little ditty i penned that would seem to get to the heart of performing.

‘The Me that acts is for Thee alone, but cares not what Thee thinks.’

The concepts here are that you act in appreciation of the audience alone but, at the core, you are not acting for their approval. When any great performance in a movie or play takes you to a level of an appreciation for the story being told and for the lesson contained within, you lose yourself in the story and not the actors or the special effects.

This is why a movie like Star Wars appeals to so many; it is not the special effects, (but, hey, who doesn’t want a lightsaber with them at all times?) but the story of the one no one thinks can who becomes the hero. It is a journey of self discovery we all desire to take. Becoming a Jedi, was becoming bigger that what Luke was but somehow knew he was.

This is gratitude at its core. Becoming something besides yourself.

Way 2: The Details of the Details

I tell my coaching clients that while so many say that the beauty of life is in the details, i tell them to think a bit…smaller. The beauty of life is in the details of the details. This is the true expression of living in the Moment, being Present to yourself, therefore to all.

You see, when you are so in tune with your very surroundings, every sound and nuance that surrounds you, you become a creature that cannot do anything except be grateful.

I can tell you this is a very intricate gesture, but one that, as you practice it, it becomes counter-intuitive to you.

What do i mean? When you become so focused on details within details, you become intrinsically aware of sounds, colors and movements that are so very precious. Watch an animal sleep. Notice every aspect of their fur move as they sleep. notice how they are aware of sounds as they sleep as their ears move and adjust, seemingly unconscious to their very sleeping.

This is a mental exercise that will give you a new appreciation of the beauty of life, but one that must be done to do so.

Way 3: Smile

This may seem years apart from an Attitude of Gratitude, but if you are to just smile in this Now Moment, you will begin to feel a new awareness. Now, suffice it to say, this must be a real smile. Even if you believe you are not in a situation that you believe warrants a smile, do so anyway.

You are here, present in this Now Moment. You made it and there is nothing stopping you from smiling, is there? Besides maybe it would be fun to live the old saying, ‘Smile, it makes people wonder what you have been up to.

Way 4: Focus

This speaks to Way 3; Smiling. If you feel silly just smiling, first, tell the ego to take a hike, for that is the only thing telling you it is ridiculous and the assumptions you give about others looks about you or to you are none of your business. You don’t care.

But the way to really smile is to focus on something tangible within your surroundings. Focus on that object and really think of what went into it. If it is a person or an animal, focus on the details of every aspect of them. What makes you attracted to them. What is pleasing to your senses. Keep emotions out, even though your gratitude will elicit emotions, keep any emotions out initially as you focus. Really look at what ever it is and allow yourself to bask in the appreciation for what it is in every way and smile as you do so.

This will take you to the details of the details and allow you to smile with a genuine heart.

Way 5: Release Yourself

Your experiences have brought you here, but were never meant to be an anchor to hold you at some sandbar of a past point where you briefly ran aground as you sailed the stream of life. You are free to be and to love and to laugh and to appreciate everything. You have been designed to be a creature of joy and of love and this can only be experienced in the grips of a Spirit that appreciates everything in all ways.

To truly live in an Attitude of Gratitude, release yourself to the attitude to begin with. Let go and let the Universe carry you to love in this Now Moment alone. Be like the little boy on his birthday and revel in the gifts of this Present Moment, but unlike the boy, relish the moments with an Attitude of Gratitude for what they are and with those who share them with you.

For herein lies all love.

Have always an Attitude of Gratitude and until then…

Be Excellent, Expect the Best.

Hope, Lack and the Ego; 3 Ways to Become a Creator in Hope

When i was a young lad and looking to be the ‘star of the show’, i imagined what it would be like to be at the front of the stage as a leading man in the school musical. I hoped that i would be great for the part and that i would be fantastic as the lead. I hoped for a very cool future because i knew i was up for the challenge as i set my sights on trying out.

Who could ever argue about the very nature of Hope and the beauty within the very word of a future filled with possibilities, right?

The challenge for me was that at the time when the show was being cast, i was not even remotely ‘right’ for the part. I was talented, yes, as i had a few acting stints under my belt, more than most who were trying out for the lead, but i was yet to discover this whole thing called ‘looking the part’ that i had not fully grasp at that point in my fledgling career. I was getting to be a pretty good actor for a young high school student, yes, but i had not the looks for certain parts. Those were just the facts.

Even in our modern society, we seem to have this entitlement concept, regardless of whether or not we are ‘right for the part’. We seem to believe that because we hoped it to be, that our ego said  because we hoped as much, we are somehow entitled to that in which we hoped for.

You see, there seems to be a side of hope that is not so optimistic at its core. The ego swoops in and under the guise of advancing you into the future in a ‘hopeful’ manner, the ego takes full control of hope and uses it as a weapon against yourself.

One way, of course is when things don’t go as ‘hoped for”. The ego keeps you in a state of scarcity and lack by making you hopeful of something, but telling you ‘not to get your hopes up’ at the same time.

Have you been there?

It is the same attitude of lack as discussed in the previous post on Lack and the Ego. Essentially, at its core, it is when you say statements such as, “i am hopeful, but i am waiting for the other shoe to fall.” or ‘When something good happens, that means something bad must be right around the corner.” Statements such as these are the ego’s attempt to keep you in a constant state of hoping but not expecting; two conditions diametrically opposed to one another.

But it is as if we are being led to this dark side of hope. Hope, then, becomes, characterized by waiting for other people or events to change so that we can be happy or get what we want. In this respect, hope is like the dark side of positive thinking. Insidious in nature, yet always putting on a positive face. It is the way the ego keeps you in check and under the thumb of its ever-watchful eye.

You see, there are two kinds of hope. The hope that was just spelled out, a darker side of being ‘so-called’ positive, and the way hope is actually to be lived, as a creator.

The true essence of hope, then, is as a producer. True hope produces the action steps that enable the hope to become manifest in your life. When your hope is based in an ever-changing future of individuals and circumstances, it can quickly turn to hopelessness and to the turning to the ego for ‘peace of mind’, in which there never is.

When directing a show, i would never pass out scrips and say, ‘I hope when Opening Night comes we all know all our parts.’ and never rehearse in the meantime. No, we would produce the hopeful outcome of Opening Night in our Present Moment rehearsals where life, the play, happened.

The best way to look at it then is that Hope becomes your future reality when action meets opportunity. All happens in the Now Moments of life.

3 Ways to Become a Hope Producer

Step 1: Don’t Play the Waiting Game.

Examine your current hopes. Are you waiting for some action from some future event or person to manifest to make your hope a reality? The dictionary defines hope as, “the desire for something to happen while expecting or being confident that it will come true”. This is the waiting game that the ego uses so adeptly at securing a foothold in your life.

We are conditioned to wait and it is in that conditional waiting that the hopefulness then becomes a darkness of the soul.

Step 2: Look at Hope as a Way to Produce Creative Now Moments.

Hope is an action based thriller that you write in every Now Moment. Hope is the way you create excellence in though, word, mind and deed and the only way to truly look upon the gift of hope is to become the creator of hope within.

You create the action plan for hope and are the one guiding it.

Does hope depend on others and life in general? Yes, to a degree, but it is all from a Law of Attraction state of mind. When you are a creator, a producer of hope, you create the action steps in this Now Moment alone. Don’t get caught in the trap of always waiting for some ‘future’ event for there is no future that you can put your hand upon. There is only this Now Moment, where all hope creates its joy. The Law of Attraction, then, manifests the creative action steps that creates substance to your hopes.

Step 3. An Attitude of Gratitude for All Now Moments Creates Joy in Hope

This is one of the very crucial elements of living and of the very art of hope. Your attitude must foster a sense of hopefulness in every circumstance. Again, hope is not to be confused with mindless Positive Thinking as that is merely a cover, not an action. True Positive Thinking is a way of life and the very way you live your life.

Essentially, Positive Thinking is an Attitude of Gratitude in action in every Now Moment.

This is only the beginning of the way to become a producer and creator of hope, but a true beginning to becoming a true creature of hope. Don’t allow ego to tarnish that which gives your Now Moments an expectation of greatness.

Examine, Create and do so with an Attitude of Gratitude, for herein lies the heart of hope.

Remember to Be Excellent and Expect the Best.
