Being In The Flow of Life: 3 Ways to Embrace the Beginning of Flow Within

Do you find yourself often going through the routines of life with no concern for the actual essence of all that surrounds you?

Does anything that happens ‘out of the ordinary’ throw you for a loop and gives you an excuse to have a bad day?

Does your flow seem more like a muddy pool of water that has a filmy substance covering it with a gentle aroma that seems slightly unpleasant to the senses?

Flow. Everyone talks of it. Most embrace it as a way, or as a desire, as a way to live their lives. The truth, however, is crouched in a security mindset that leaves nothing for flow at all in your life.

Life, then, becomes nothing more than for an accumulation for the shinny things that somehow, then, constitute a way to make life exciting. Be it the latest electronic gadget or the immersion into the latest sports team that we seem to desire to live vicariously through or some television program that diverts us from any sense of flow.

Now, i am not being a ‘you kids, get off of my lawn’ here, i assure you. I love great movies and tv that entertains. However, sometimes, when you fill you mind with all of the trivialities of life and wonder why a sense of flow is interrupted, you have to begin to take notice.

Flow Begins With the Questions We Ask

The question then becomes one not so much of the external, but one of the internal and the place the soul’s growth is within your life. Do you take care of the internal in places that only silence and reflection can truly take you? Do you release yourself to a higher level of living in that you are mindful of the Universal Way of life for all of creation? Do you truly release yourself and your ego long enough in any given period of time to truly care about life or are you so invested in your own trials and tribulations that life becomes a one-dimensional look from only your perspective.

Essentially, i am asking you if you see beyond yourself and actually enjoy what you see?

3 Ways to Embrace the Beginning of Flow Within

It is funny how most expect struggle and desperately seek a release of that struggle in terms of just being in the flow. It seems as if they so enjoy the essence of the struggle that flow then becomes a place or a condition of circumstances of things and people. Yes, these things may be part of the enjoyment of flow, but they are not flow that comes from within.

Way 1: Be Willing to Understand that Flow is Always an Inside Job

A penny on the track will derail a train. Well, that is what i thought when i was a kid. I was once walking along side of some railroad tracks with some friends when i was a kid and found a series of about ten mishapped pennys along a certain stretch of track. As i picked them up, one of my friends excitedly asked if some one was trying to derail a train. I looked at him as he told the story of derailing a train by putting a penny on the track and how he had heard about it from a cousin.

I still laugh at the story and how excited that made my friend at the time. That a tiny little copper piece could actually derail a huge, heavy train. But, in retrospect, is it any different than what happens to us on a daily basis? A small little change in our daily routine can cause us to ‘go off the rails’ in such a way that everyone around us suffers in the process,

Flow, then, begins with that place within that understands that you are the train and no penny can derail you.

Way 2: Understand that Circumstances Don’t Define You

In the great poem by Rudyard Kipling, “If”, he talks about the virtue of keeping your head when he penned, “If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you” and goes on to illustrate that circumstances should never rule the day.

In the final verse, he talks of being the same to all when he wrote, “If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch, If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you…Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it.”

There is no circumstance that should define you. There is an old saying that says ‘that it is not so much what happens to you, but how you react to it that counts’, is so very true. It is always about your reactions and the way you are in peace with the moments.

Way 3: Be Willing to Release Judgement of Situations and People

One of the greatest killers of flow in one’s life is the judgement in all situations and the people you deal with. Judgement is life the eternal water on the flame of life that seeks to snuff out flow in allowing life to manifest within you all that your heart desires. When you judge situations and people and make assumptions based on those judgements, you are damming up any chance for flow to become your existence.

When you simply release any preconceived notions of people, groups and situations in general, you allow flow to become your very existence, you begin the process of truly living in the flow.

The old expression, ‘Before criticizing a man, walk a mile in his shoes.” applies here and, while the ego may persuade you to live in these judgements, or life experiences as it may be called, instead, allow new experiences to become your norm.

Allow the flow of life to envelop you and give you a new perspective, a new appreciation for the excellence of the journey of life for, therein, lies the heart of flow and of living in truth.

3 Ways to Begin the Process of Taking Back Your Power

It takes a certain amount of guts to truly live in the Now Moment with full awareness of the possibilities that surround you.

It takes an awareness of the essence of who you truly are in the Universal Way and it takes the understanding that, if you are in no way even close to that realization, then you need to get there, for the truth shall set you free as has been said.

Look, i understand as life sometimes seems to be anything but yours to live. Maybe you have responsibilities of family and your pursuit of a career. Maybe you are struggling with some type of reliance on some type of release that seems to take you over when you least expect it.

May be you have just become such a victim to life that it seems only natural to just live in this way. I mean, it is normal, right?

Is it?

Yes, we live in a world where we are interconnected and in this age of Social Media, it seems that everyone has an opinion about everything; good and maybe, not so nice. It seems that we are all so willing to give out all of our power to just stay ahead of the game, which many call life, that, in the process, we lose a bit of ourselves just to ‘make nice’.

3 Ways to Begin the Process of Taking Back Your Power

Life is funny with its twist and turns, as one moment you seem to be on top of the world emotionally, and the next, you crash down due to some circumstance that you did not foresee.

And therein lies the challenge; to take you from the place that you have given all of your power away to the circumstances of life to bringing you the awareness that life is a beautiful place that you exist in seamlessly as a destined soul.

So how do you begin the process?

Way 1: Understand that Life Does Nothing To You

You are here and like a George Bailey situation from “It’s A Wonderful Life” if you were not around life would indeed unfold differently, so begin to understand that you are indeed here for a purpose.

Life does nothing to you, it is not out to get you. You are to, in a sense, make life come to you in a way that makes sense to who you are, where your power is and how you direct your power.

Yes, you have a power and you are to direct it but know that life owes you nothing. No governmental entity owes you anything, no person owes you anything. You are here for a reason, so start to grasp it and live it as you were designed.

Way 2: Become Your Truth

Why is it that so many seem to almost desire the release of their personal power to the circumstances and people in their lives? Is it because it is easier at the end of the day to be the victim of life and of others influences in their lives?

I believe it so.

I was working with a client the other day who was bemoaning her very existence within the town she lived in. She said she was miserable because she had no direction, no money and no seeming future.

I simply asked her that if money were no object, what would she do?

She then brightened up with the possibilities that would be opened to her and then we moved to her present circumstances. By the end of the session, she had a new direction of simply improving her present conditions within her house that would give her a sense of direction.

It was never about the money, really. It was about her giving all of her power away to her circumstances, to her husband, to her lack of a direction. It was all about her not living her truth.

It is easy to be a victim and not to be your truth for then you always have someone to blame.

That is not living. That is not Directing Your Own Life.

Way 3: Understand That This Now Moment is the Only Moment That Matters

One of the biggest challenges in life is to always be looking for the future in some way. Trust me, this is a concept that goes against all that we are taught by parents and institutions of learning in that everything is future-based on some future success. Even many of our religious institutions have succumbed to the idea that some future reward is all that matters and that everything is there waiting for you.

But the real truth is Opening Night. It is a date on a calendar and something we are aware of, but the show happens in the rehearsal that is happening right now.

Such is life. Yes, it is fantastic to know that you want to be this or that, do this or that, but, it is here where any ‘this or that’ happens. This is the very nature of many of our financial challenges right now; the wanting of it all regardless of the ability to be abundant for it.

It is as of you cast someone for a play and tell them that Opening Night is tomorrow. In no way could they be ready for it, nor could any other aspect of the show.

You see, living in the moment is all about awareness of what can be and the possibilities but it is full immersion into this moment alone. Any other way you live is simply an egoic tendency to try to craft a future that may or may not exist as you planned.

Be present, live your truth and understand that life flows with or without you, but that it has been designed for you to participate in fully and with a passion for it.

Be a Person of Quality. Direct Your Power.

Until then…

Be Excellent, Expect the Best!

The Journey of Enlightenment, Part III; The Flow of it All

One would think that flow is all anyone ever really does, as if we have a choice. But that is the very nature of Flow, we do have a choice and yet so few seem to exist there within it.

First, a practical look at the definition and how we apply it to living in the Present Moment.

The dictionary definition simply states that Flow is simply the “moving along or out steadily and continuously in a current or stream: “from here the river flows north” and “The action or fact of moving along in a steady, continuous stream.”

There is another definition to flow that many words are not given and that is from a perspective of psychology.

Flow, in this instance, is defined as the mental state of operation in which a person in an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and success in the process of the activity.

Proposed by Mihály Csíkszentmihályi, the positive psychology concept has been widely referenced across a variety of fields.

According to Csíkszentmihályi, flow is completely focused motivation. It is a single-minded immersion and represents perhaps the ultimate in harnessing the emotions in the service of performing and learning. In flow, the emotions are not just contained and channeled, but positive, energized, and aligned with the task at hand.

To be caught in the ennui of depression or the agitation of anxiety is to be barred from flow.

The hallmark of flow is a feeling of spontaneous joy, even rapture, while performing a task, although flow is also described as a deep focus on nothing but the activity – not even oneself or one’s emotions.

Colloquial terms for this or similar mental states include: to be on the ball, in the moment, present, in the zone, wired in, in the groove, or owning.

What is important to note from the standard definition of moving along or out steadily and continuously in a current or stream and the flow of complete focused motivation, the single-mindedness of it all, is the the principle of advancement in a natural and creative expression of nature. The river flows as it does and when we embark on a Flow within ourselves, we become a joyful creature, a true force of nature that moves at a constant and ever-evolving persona of love.

Flow becomes who we are and embodies our journey. There is nothing that determines how we flow or the way we should flow; We Just do in a way that is natural to us.

Here is where flow is interrupted, and it is at the core of the three step process of Release, Let Go and Flow. At the very heart of the process, there is a Dam that has blocked flow. Something that you have allowed in your life. For what ever reason that it has served you at the time, your Dam has stopped you from your true nature; the very art of Flowing into each new Now Moment.

As a kid, i witnessed the awesome power of the Mississippi River as storms caused it to leave its banks most every Spring. You see, the government, in its infinite wisdom, devised a series of dams along the river to “contain” the flow of the mighty Mississippi River.

Not so much.

When nature would intercede and the river would leave its banks, i was often amused as to the news reports of the damage that was caused because of the river doing what it was supposed to do, the very act of flowing. All of a sudden the river is a destructive force, but it was the very act of the government trying to control nature that was at the core of the destruction.

When nature decides to do what it does, we are simply in the way. Such is the nature of flow and the self-imposed Dams of life are at the heart of anxiety, worry and fear.

You see, we are creatures of flow that are supposed to have a natural rhythm, an ease to the way of living. If you have Dammed up your flow, then you must undo the unnatural aspects of your nature and return your life back over to you.

You must Release by forgiving.

You must Let Go by truly forgetting and deciding that you are the only one responsible for you; that no one else has input unless it is from a mentoring point-of-view that guides, but never insists on its own way.

You must then let nature, the very nature of who you are as an individual, allow Flow into each Present Moment alone, for therein lies your eternity.

Life truly begins when you have learned that the nature of Flow allows the very truth of who we are as eternal beings to enter and create our reality. For we are Love and from Love, all extends outward. Love is the creative force for all that we are and for all that we are to become.

Flow is Love and it is our nature to live free within the Flow.
