Are You Living Your Truth? 3 Ways To Know Your Truth

Isn’t it funny how we drift through life sometimes seemingly thinking that we have it all under control? We go through our morning and daily routine thinking that we finally have a groove and, yet, there is an uneasiness about life that seems to permeate our very essence of life.

Joy seems to be something that happens in those fleeting moments when something external happens that we have planned to be as such. You could say that there is a heightened expectation of that joy, so, therefore, we must obtain it.

The Question Then Begs; Are You Living Your Truth?

Are the moments you are experiencing coming from a place of joy or are you manufacturing moments that seem to fill the emptiness but for a fleeting moment.

It is at the heart of all indulgences that there is a fundamental expectation of joy to be experienced, but the real expression is of a life that seeks to live in truth.

Joy and a joyful state, then, are simply the extension of your truth, whatever it is.

Let us be clear here; truth is not about what you do as much as who you are in what you do. You are the George Bailey of your “It’s A Wonderful Life” and it is for you to know that the world would have been a different place without you. But what is it about you that is your truth?

You are not just some physical being that is taking up space, are you? What is it that is the essence of who you are that allow for your truth to shine?

3 Ways to Know Your Truth

In “It’s A Wonderful Life”, George Bailey was not just a guy running a savings and loan, but a soul who inspired others to be better for themselves by his very care and concern for who they were. Of course, it goes much deeper than that and is why the movie is watched every Christmas Season as it inspires a truth of character that we all would like to identify with, no matter how hard-hearted the world has made you to this point.

Way 1: Understand Your Passions

The best way to understand your truth is to look at what inspires you; what are you passionate about? Whatever that is, there is a core truth there within the passion that shines a certain light on your truth. Look not at the passion or the inspiration, but what about it is as such to you? There within are fundamentals of your truth.

Way 2: What Would You Do If You Knew You Could Not Fail?

In the seeds of this question are the seeds of your truth in that when there are no restrictions that you put on yourself, there is a core truth that shines out like a beacon. You could call it your beacon of truth. Here in the depths of no limitations, most self-imposed, the core you emerges to become a truth, almost as if it could not be stopped from doing so.

Here is where most fall down in this question. They begin the process of asking, but then allow the ego to tell them to “be realistic” or to ‘live in reality’ as you have neither the time, money, or resources to be or do what you desire. So, why even bother playing this ridiculous game.

Sound familiar?

The secret here is to know that you are looking for your truth and from there you shall build it into a life of possibilities.

Way 3: Update Your Data Base

Like an anti-virus program that runs continually on your system that seeks to eliminate constant threats to your computer, you should update your personal anti-virus data base that runs to eliminate your negative past and the thinking that is keeping you from your truth.

You see, the past is used by so many as a reason to not allow the truth of who they are to be ever-present. For some reason, your truth was put down as something not valuable or realistic or whatever else the ego has used to keep you for being the expansive creature that we are all designed to be.

Something about your truth may have been used against you or made fun of, so you have buried it.

Update your anti-virus data base and eliminate the past negative emotions and actions, unless you need to hang on being a victim in some way. Let the data base update to clear you of those things from the past that seek to define your present.

You are not your past, but are only here as a testament to it. And your past is in no way your future. This is the moment. Update your Data Base and clear out the limitations that have kept you from your truth, for in the end, we are but given a truth that is our life journey.

Live it and allow the joy that it is to wash over you and cleanse you from the limitations that have kept you from your truth.

3 Ways To Stop Being Held As A Prisoner of War Within Your Mind

When i was a kid, i remember seeing the old comedy show, Hogan’s Heroes, about a prisoner of war camp during the Second World War.

The shows premise was that the POWs were actually active war participants, using the camp as a base of operations for Allied espionage and sabotage against the Germans or the German Armed Forces.

The prisoners could leave and return almost at will via a secret network of tunnels and had radio contact with Allied command. They were aided by the incompetence of the camp commandant, Colonel Klink, and the rather more complex motivations of Sergeant of The Guard Sergeant Schultz.

Colonel Hogan would routinely manipulate the incompetent Klink and get Schultz to look the other way while Hogan’s men conducted secret operations. Klink and Schultz were in constant terror of being transferred to the Russian Front, and Hogan took pains to keep the hapless German duo firmly in place.

Schultz was quite aware that the prisoners were carrying out some sort of mischief, but deliberately ignored it in order to maintain the status quo.

It was all fun and games as the actual war was now 20 years over at the time the show was broadcast and time to start having fun with it all, i suppose.

But i am struck with the similarities of how we are POWs within our own minds.

You see, i believe us to be prisoners to our egoic nature and, like the show, we seem to be willing to allow ourselves to be used by allied command, the ego, for all kinds of shenanigans.

Unfortunately, we will never be allowed to leave as the ego has decided that you are not worthy to become the expansive creatures who relish living in the beauty of each Now Moment.

You see, by keeping you forever trapped by a guilt-ridden past and a future that is full of angst, for the details of your life must always be planned out or you are just a failure, we are kept as POWs forever hoping the war might end.

But like in the show where the POWs were content to stay put to do the secret operations, we too, seem to be content with ceding our lives to the ego to manage. I mean, isn’t it just easier to live in guilt and regret of the things we should have done and to put our desires into some hope of a glorious future that will happen when our ship comes in?

3 Ways to Release Yourself to Live Free

The ego is never a tyrannical dictator as the aspect of divine providence within for freedom would always rise to the surface.

No, instead, the ego is indeed like Allied Command, making it seem as if you are part of the overall plan for success.

Way 1: Understand the Way You Are Being Held Captive

This is indeed different for everyone as the ego is subtle in its design. It is forever dwelling on that which will make you stay put as a prisoner but making it seem as if you are a full participant in the process. If it is guilt about something in your past, regret about some situation that you had no control over or whatever it is your ego has decided that t needs to keep you bound, you need to understand for yourself the way you are being kept prisoner.

The key here is to understand the feelings and emotions, yet never judge them. When you allow yourself to judge them, you become the victim and then the prisoner. Judgement always reflects on the one who judges.

Way 2: Understand that the Tunnels that Lead Away Have Always Been There

Believe it or not, there is a symbiotic relationship that you have with your ego. You know the tunnels are there, the ego knows you can be free, yet does not try and stop you from using them. However, the ego tells you that the tunnels are simply used for missions but that the place of safety and security is always behind the barbed wire of the camp.

When you can make sense of the “why” then the access to the tunnels becomes a bit easier to begin to see that the true freedom can only come when you decide to use the tunnels for a one-way trip out.

There is never any safety and security as a Prisoner of War but there is clarity when you understand that life begins when you do. This means shedding your reliance on the ego and allowing yourself to step into the fresh sunlight of your Present Moments. Only there can you find yourself waiting.

Way 3: Understand that There is No Safety Ever in the Realm of the Ego

The tendency to retreat back into the camp is so dominant as you come to truly live free. The ego has assured you that the missions were as free as you needed to be, but that you will always be the safest behind the barbed wire that encloses it. The ego will tell you that it is in charge but that everything you do is vital to the success of the war.

You believed it.

Well, you used to, but no longer. Yes, the freedom of accepting yourself for who you are can be daunting. The freedom to be free of judgement of yourself and of others can be exhilarating, yet scary, at the same time. It has been such a fall-back position that the ego has used to bolster your view of yourself, right?

But once you have lived in the realm of freedom of yourself, from yourself, you begin to see the uselessness of the ego and the temptation to retreat back into the tunnels.

It is not a journey back you should ever desire. It is like when someone loses weight and gains it back and it is more difficult, or so it seems, to lose the weight again. It is just easy to retreat back into old patterns of guilt, regret and judgement.

Don’t go there.

Be a person who is free of the encampments of the mind and of the ego, for there, in the details of each Now Moment, life is waiting.

Be a Person of Quality. Direct Your Power.

Until then…

What is Your Self-Storage Worth? The 3 Step Process to Clean It Out

Did you know that in the USA alone every year that over 15 Billion is spent on self-storage? We have so much stuff that we have to rent places to keep it all.

There was an old comedic routine done by the late comedian, George Carlin, where he talked of that very dilemma; the buying of bigger houses to make room for more of our stuff. He stated that it was not so much that we needed bigger houses for anything but that very fact, to hold our stuff.

Now, that same stuff has spilled over into a 15 Billion dollar industry because we think we need so much stuff.

When i was a kid, my mother did Spring Cleaning every year and it was really that we actually got rid of a bunch of our stuff we didn’t truly need. Except for the actual cleaning that she was hell-bent on putting us all through, i saw the simplicity of the process, even though she didn’t mean it as such.

Today shows like “Horders” fill our TV screens and we all drive by storage facilities that are more secure than some of our banks these days. I mean, do you know the process to get into one of those places?

Gates and guards and fences, Oh My. Man, oh man, we wouldn’t want anyone to steal our extra stuff, would we now.

What is my point?

I deal with many a client who harbors all kinds of stuff they no longer need in secure facilities within themselves. They are locked up and secured and kept ‘just in case’ they (well, the ego) needs to get to it later.

Why?

To be insulted by something, to be mad about something or mad at somebody, to remind themselves of the failures of the past and how, for some unknown reason, they cannot possibly advance until the stuff in storage is dealt with.

The challenge lies not so much with the stuff, but that it, the mental ‘stuff’ that is being kept under lock and key and surrounded by a moat that the ego has built and filled with gators just to make sure no one breeches, is there to begin with.

You wouldn’t want to rid yourself of some type of limiting behavior now would you?

You wouldn’t want to free yourself of the behaviors and feelings that, for some reason, are still serving you, would you?

Would You?

The 3 Step Process to Begin the Clean-Up Process

The mental storage facility that we have become so adept at hording all of the limitations and failures we hold so dear needs to be not only cleaned out, but we need to refuse to pay any more emotional rent on the facility as well.

Step 1: Understand the Nature of Your Facility.

We all harbor stuff for different reasons, but i have found that there seems to be a theme, a reason the ego has constructed such a fortress to begin with. If yours is anger, then you will see that many of the things you keep have an anger component attached. If it is being a victim, then the stuff that keeps you as such is the primary focus of the facility. Yes, there is usually a mixture as they all seem to feed on one another, but there is a dominant component, none the less.

Step 2: Move Everything Out of the Mental Storage Unit

Now, here is a mental process that is going to be your ‘spring cleaning’ of sorts. This is where the stuff needs to be dealt with and given away or, probably thrown away. It means that you need to ask yourself the basic question, ‘Why is this serving me?” However, this is the final spring cleaning you must do.

Be honest.

Step 3: Refuse to Pay Any More Emotional Rent

I have found this step, believe it or not, the most difficult to deal with. It seems that most will go through the spring cleaning process, but it is exactly that, a ‘spring cleaning’. Most anticipate another one coming so holding on to the storage unit is a must.

There is a process in time management that says that where most fall down is the failure to deal with papers, folders or items in the time management stream that can be dealt with now. The procedure is that once something comes into your hand, you either deal with it, assign it  to someone, or file it only if there is a component that is missing that you are waiting on someone else to do.

As good Now Moment souls that we are, we know that if we deal with it in one of these ways, we no longer attach any emotional energy to it. When the missing components are attached we then complete the journey of that item. We have no need to have a bunch of papers, magazines, or useless items filling our spaces.

Such is the journey of those things that were in the mental storage unit. You no longer have a use for the storage unit nor will you ever. Deal with it and free it so that this Present Moment is the one you exist in. Do not allow the past, the storage unit filled to the brim, be your existence.

Rid yourself of it once and for all for the truth is that the very nature of storage units make you a slave of your stuff and you are a better creator than that.

Direct Your Power.

Until next time…

Be Excellent, Expect the Best!
