Having A Joyful Mission of Abundance: 3 Ways to Frame Your Vision

I spoke of in a previous post, about having a Vision, really of abundance, as it related to goals. Briefly i discussed goals as merely a subset of the larger vision of a life with a purpose, an abundant life which should be a Mission for your eternal pursuits.

However, in this ego-driven culture, Mission is often left to those ‘starving artist” and those who dedicate their selves to helping those in need in some remote part of the world or in some place of dire need in our own country and the most intriguing aspect is that we often look upon those types as lacking abundance.

When we look at Mission then in the eyes of a cynical world, and with an ego that is constantly looking out for your own interest, it seems that a Mission of Abundance is not really something that everyone is involved in, or should be, for far too many have corrupted the very meaning of the word.

The Universe Makes No Mistakes

The eternal creator of the universe did not set us adrift to be at the whim of a society that cares not but, in the eternal scheme of it all, desires nothing more than people with vision to lead them into a new age of enlightenment.

Here is where the ego usually shuts the discussion down as enlightenment, vision and a Mission of Abundance is certainly not practical. To the egoic mind that desires only to keep you forever tied to the past and worried about the future in a way to keep you focused on self-preservation, there will certainly be no talk of a Mission outside of yourself, for that is the very act of acknowledging an eternal presence that has no place in the ego-centric mind.

Yes, seek personal abundance but this Mission stuff is “out there” and reality is nothing more than your failures of the past and of the future, which is always to be worried about.

3 Ways to Be Confident and Joyful in Your Mission of Abundance

Way 1: Know That You Are Worthy of Abundance and That it is Your Mission

Often the heartaches of the past, the ego will tell you, would not even allow you to think that YOU, of all people, could have a Mission of Abundance that could impact the world. This is precisely why you should think of a Mission of Abundance for your life and more importantly how you could impact others in your thinking and your actions.

Yes, it is tied to Vision and the two are usually so interwoven that it seems to be a daunting task to even conceive of it.

Way 2: Know That You Can Change the World With Your Mission of Abundance

The ego tells you that you are not worthy for greatness, that you can’t change the world, that “out there” pursuits are best left to those who are rich, or are crafty or whatever else the ego tells you to disavow that need within divinely given to you to create.

The ego is crafty as them all by telling you that until you get to a certain status, income or whatever, that this Mission stuff be best left to those who have the ability to do so.

Way 3: Know That Your Small Role Can be The Star Performance

In the theatre, there is a much heralded saying that says, “There are no small parts, only small actors.” Of course, it has been misused as a quote used to those who get small parts in a production who desired bigger roles, but the concept is not without merit.

I learned the lesson early on in my fledgling acting career when i, too, desired a bigger part but, instead, got a smaller role. In a sense, it was that role that turned on a switch for me as i discovered the power that having a smaller part in a show could truly manifest opportunities for greatness. It was as if the pressure of not having a bigger role opened me up to becoming great at the role i was given.

So the truth is to become great at the role you are given.

I illustrated this point to a cast of actors during a production once. It seemed they were being a bit disrespectful to the backstage crew, essentially being talent-snobs, as i would call them.

I set out to prove the dynamic of the lesson of each part of the show being a vital part of the total production. I told the actors that they would do the show at the rehearsal while the crew was watching since they seemed to be able to do it without anyones support.

As the show progressed, the actors struggled doing all of the things they took for granted that the crew did to make them look good.

It proved a point that those actors learned about appreciation for all who were involved in the show at every level. There is even a larger lesson that came from that lesson, and that was appreciation for the Mission in general.

The ego is such a controlling core that appreciation is lost for living in general. Life is a struggle, the ego tells you, and there is no way to appreciate EVERYTHING.

This is at the very core of your Mission of Abundance. Appreciation for the journey and for the freedom to allow the Mission of Abundance to become you in every way..

Preparation of a Life Well Lived: 3 Ways to Frame the Process

There is an old expression that says that Victory Loves Preparation, and to a degree, that is true.

But where this saying goes awry is the way folks go through extremes to plan their lives out to the minute details desiring to influence the process in such a way that if it doesn’t go according to plans, then all kinds of discourse then ensues. Life then becomes one disappointment after another in that it should be as the ego has decided for you and if it is not, then you are being slighted.

This gives you all kinds of excuses, then, to not live in a way that truly means that you are going in the way the river is flowing. You are living a way that comes naturally without a struggle against the current.

The Reality Is That The Future Doesn’t Yet Exist

This is where i lose many in the discussion because they look at people who are Present Moment thinkers as ‘Pie in the Sky’ types who are not grounded in reality; The reality of planning to the detail a future that does not exist except in the minds of those that desire it.

You see the disconnect here?

Of course we are expansive creatures always conceiving expansion for ourselves and for those around us, but there is the place that most succumb to the ego. While the ego is there for the betterment of self, it hardly desires expansion of others as it might somehow take away form it.

When you are ever-present in the Now Moment, you are aware of the possibilities for yourself and for those who surround you as you are aware that a rising tide lifts all boats. Life then becomes a beautiful ride on a river with others who are enjoying the ride with you.

So how do we make the leap from living in a detailed account of a future yet lived to an existence where we are ever-aware of the beautiful possibilities that are in this Present Moment alone.

3 Ways to Frame the Process of Preparation of a Life Well Lived

I remember the first time i saw a movie based on H.G. Wells, Time Machine. What struck me as a kid that seemed to give me an early view of Now Moments was that when the time machine would travel back and forth in time, it was not hurled into someplace into the future. Time passed all around the time machine right where it was. It seemed that H.G. Wells understood quantum physics even if he didn’t realize it.

Time passes as a series of Now Moments lived with an expectation that better surroundings will overtake our time machine as well. It is up to us to become an active participant of the Now Moments we are in.

Way 1: Understand that the Journey of a Thousand Miles Begins with a Single Step.

Actors know the process of rehearsing once they are into it and understand that it is the rehearsal that gives any performance its truth. It takes great actors a total immersion into each Now Moment to give a riveting performance when the cameras roll or the curtain is opened.

It would be beautiful if we had a time machine and were able to propel us into the future where we would have a desire to be manifested, but we have to inch ourselves along.

But really do we desire that? Think about repeats of TV shows and movies you have seen. I mean the thrill is gone if you have seen it right? OK, maybe Star War is exempt here, but really, think about a thriller you have seen and you have a friend that has not. they tell you ‘not to spoil it for them’ right?

The joy truly is in the journey, but it is our journey to live with a passion for excellence.

Way 2: It Is Self Betterment That We Desire

Often times, i am asked to categorize the posts i write and will the obvious choice is Self Improvement, or Self Help, i really look to it as Self Betterment. It is my mindset that improvement is so subjective and is often used by others to direct you in some way, or tell you to improve yourself.

You don’t need to improve, or help yourself. It is the betterment of yourself for the larger vision that matters. Betterment is so internal as it describes something that we seek to become more aware of. When i would direct actors, it is not that the constant rehearsal of a scene improved them as an actor, it made them a better person as well as a performer.

Way 3: Leave Judgement to Others for it is Not Your Destiny

I believe that when you take it upon yourself to judge situations and others in any way, you are not judging them, but you are making a judgement on your view of the world and the possibilities for a life well lived.

Why is it that we are think we are here to judge how anyone desires to live their lives? Yes, parents guide so as to give their children a way to make beautiful choices, but why do we feel the need to become “The De-Terminator” for every ones journey?

It is as if some we become some machine gun welding robot with our words and thoughts by thinking that by judging the journey of others and making some determination on their intent, we are ‘helping’ them by talking about them behind their back.

We are helping our ego to become more inflated as we would never do anything like that, right?

Everyone is on their own journey and it is up to us to live in a way that when our time machine comes to rest, a paradise awaits us from the preparation we gave to every Now Moment along the way.

There is an old saying that goes, “No one cares how much you know unless they know how much you care. When you can be the one who cares and not cross over into judgement, you will indeed lift all boats that surround you on your journey to a higher level in your wake.

It is Nature. it is Nurture. It is the Preparation of a Life well Lived.

Be a Person of Quality. Direct Your Power.

Until then…

Your Passion in Life: 3 Ways to Position the Personal Towers of Your Tower Defense Game

Passion is a funny thing in that it is indeed at the heart of your Tower Defense game that is life.

Let me begin by explaining what a Tower Defense game is if you are unaware of it.

As i do various writing, coaching and directing projects there are times that i need a quick diversion at the computer, where i spend a great deal of time. As i am not a die-hard gamer, i do enjoy simple flash-based games that you can do quickly, like Angry Birds. You know those quick diversions that you can do mindlessly but don’t require you enter into a full-on session as if you would sit down to play Modern Warfare.

Simply put, a Tower Defense-based game is a game in which you are protecting a treasure of some kind or advancing on a treasure.

Wikipedia says it as such; “The goal of tower defense games is to try to stop enemies from crossing a map by building towers which shoot at them as they pass. Enemies and towers usually have varied abilities, costs, and ability costs. When an enemy is defeated, the player earns money or points, which are used to buy or upgrade towers, or upgrade the number of money or points that are earned, or even upgrade the rate at which they upgrade.”

Here is the key concept, from my standpoint, that Wikipedia says about the game, “The choice and positioning of the personal towers is the essential strategy of the game.”

It started me thinking about passion and life as all games that we play are but an extension of who we are. What draws me to this type of game is the aspect that we all have a passion within us, something that defines us and as life sends wave after wave of challenges to our attempt to take our passion from us, we must set our own ‘Personal Towers’ to defend against the waves.

Now, as i have played the various games it has often struck me that one misplaced tower can cause my treasure, my passion, to be affected or taken from me. So you see, often it is our own inability that causes us to lose sight of the passion within us. We become callus and, in many ways, the ego tells us that we are invincible and that it matters not where your own personal towers are, that it, the ego, has it all under control.

That is until it doesn’t and then seeks to blame others, society-at-large or whatever is the current popular blame-game that seems to be all the rage; your bad childhood, some political system or the current state of the economy.

These are mere excuses for the lack of attention that we are to put on our Personal Towers to protect our passion in life.

The real question, then, comes from the examination of that which drives you; you fundamental reason that the Universe has you here and the core values that are your Personal Towers.

3 Ways to Develop and Place Your Personal Towers

Way 1: First Look at What Defines Who You Are and Why it is Important to You.

This is a strictly you asking you what gives you a reason to get up in the morning. The reason you have been given to be as you are.

Here is the thing. No one can or should define you but you for you see, it is a journey that is a singular one, but impacts all who embrace your sphere of life with you.

I recently had the pleasure to interact with a clients granddaughter and was surprise to hear her talk of the project at her school where she and others her age, the rip old age of fourteen, were told that they had to ‘pick’ a career.

Really?

At this age, most kids have no clue what they want to do, unless it is just a God-given journey that has manifest itself already in very obvious ways.To have to ‘choose’ something when they are so into themselves, generally, is a bastardization of the creative process that the creator has designed for us all.

As the young girl sought to ask my opinion knowing that i had coached her grandmother, she asked if she was bound to be this ‘whatever’ that she was to decide. I thought for a moment, knowing that it could give her some type of vision for her own Personal Tower. I simply told her that a career generally is not decided on, but finds her naturally. Essentially, you don’t choose a career, a career chooses you.

Way 2: Set your Personal Towers Carefully

Your passion is who you are and i am not talking about you being a lawyer or a doctor or a director. Your passion is the true part of you that gives you a greater-than-yourself view of the Universe, for there is no greater view to have.

Your Personal Towers are the core values that surround you and set you up to be the creative being that manifest greatness. It is the way you Direct your Power to be the you that is simply a powerful creator as that is what we all have been designed to be.

Be willing to take stock of your core values and rid yourself of the ones that are no longer working for you. Just because you have always done it that way, doesn’t mean that it is right for you.

Way 3: Upgrade Your Personal Towers

When playing the Tower Defense games, your real power comes from upgrading the Personal Towers in such a way as to get maximum effect on the hordes that are trying to reach your core.

Always taking stock and being willing to adapt and change and increase yourself is the secret to Directing Your Own Life and becoming what was designed just for you by the Universe. Take the opportunity to reach within and ‘upgrade’ your core values to Direct Your Power to become the you that is best for you.

For here is where all truth lays waiting for you to embrace.

Be a Person of Quality. Direct Your Power.

Until then…

Be Excellent, Expect the Best!

The Mission of the Vision

Vision was discussed in relation to goals in the previous post as something to aspire to.

Briefly we discussed goals as merely a subset of the larger vision of a life with a purpose, a Mission for your eternal pursuits.

However, in this ego-driven culture, Mission is often left to those ‘starving artist” and those who dedicate their selves to helping those in need in some remote part of the world or in some place of dire need in our own country.

A Mission often seems to be left to politicians that supposedly have the social good in mind, which we usually discover is seldom the case. Even the very definition of Mission from the dictionary alludes to missions from a standpoint of political and humanitarian efforts.

Therein lies the disconnect.

When we look at Mission then in the eyes of a cynical world, and with an ego that is constantly looking out for your own interest, it seems that a Mission is not really something that everyone is involved in, or should be, for far too many have corrupted the very meaning of the word.

Mindfulness and Living With Vision

As humans with stories that we tell that become our existence, not only do we become those stories, but we use them as a way to define moments lived solely in the future. The future becomes a continuation of the stories and not a place lived in love, a place lacking a Vision or mission. The future is then the ever-present reality of that place we are always striving for in the past.

While it is mindful to imagine a future filled with things, as it is the human condition to have goals, there is a danger here. Goals are not Vision, but are merely subsets thereof. It is in the bible that the words are penned, “Where there is no vision, the people perish” but here is the distinction.

As creatures of expansion, as has been given to us by our creator and is the way of the universe, we sometimes mistake Goals for Vision. You can have a goal to make a certain amount of money, but that is just a thing, a tangible object that defines your pursuit.

But Vision is completely different; the definition, besides the obvious of someone seeing, is:

1. Unusual competence in discernment or perception; intelligent foresight: a leader of vision.
2. The manner in which one sees or conceives of something.
3. A mental image produced by the imagination.
4. The mystical experience of seeing as if with the eyes the supernatural or a supernatural being.

You see, Vision carries an extra dynamic and has all of the component of mindfulness built into it. Vision is that process of not just seeing some thing to be obtained, but really a larger-than-yourself experience to better the human condition.

Vision carries the very presence of living completely in the Present Moment because, quite frankly, when you think in a supernatural realm, you intrinsically know that there is only this Now Moment to achieve Vision. It seems like a dichotomy, two especially mutually exclusive or contradictory concepts, that cannot possibly work together.

How can having a Vision to change the world NOT be totally future based?

For the simple reason that when you release the ego and go outside yourself, there is only a passion that must live in this Present Moment alone. You have only this Present Moment alone to be the person of change, the person of Vision. You must first be that vision for yourself, and then it becomes the driving force for living life.

In the concept of a theatrical experience, Goals would be like opening a show, Opening Night, while the vision would be to change the way the very experience of theatre is perceived to the people you serve. You introduce art and beauty to a world that maybe had limited, if any, exposure prior to this point.

That is Vision. To raise the experience of the beauty of art to another level that transcends the Opening Night experience. The Vision then becomes a mission to impact the human condition.

Remember as you create goals, that it is really about having a Vision for who you are as a person of quality. Be more than merely goals. Become the Vision and lose your ego to the greater good. Then you will truly experience beauty in living, a true love for life.
