The Intention to Manifest: 3 Ways to Begin the Process

Manifesting, The Secret, The Law of Attraction.

All words that seemingly dissuade most from even attempting to look at the Universal Law of Manifesting as a way to live life. I mean, it is just too “Out There” for most, right? Just the creative-types and the ones who are in touch with their inner feelings are the ones who do “that kind of stuff”.

Really?

What the basis of goals in general? A plan to fulfill a desire within you that is given to you that expands your horizons in some way. Be it a new car, a relationship or a new career, we plan and set things into motion that, hopefully, put us on our path towards that which we desire.

When things happen that propel us along, some say they get “lucky breaks” and “were in the right place at the right time” and all other fancy way of saying that there was a manifesting principle that was working to propel you along your desired course.

The Universe makes no mistakes and for a true heartfelt desire to become your reality, there  is a truth that cannot be denied; You have indeed manifest your reality.

Gravity and Manifesting are Both Universal Principles

Like gravity, it is a Universal principle and one that when allowed to become your dominant thought process, you can begin the process of pursuing life in the flow of manifesting, not against it.

This is, on the outside, a very simple thought process, but most complicate it to the point that it becomes a complicated and convoluted way of existence that “doesn’t work for me” as most would say.

3 Ways to Begin to Internalize the Manifesting Process Within

Manifesting your reality is the stuff that the higher conscious souls do, but it is available for all who desire it within their existence.

Way 1: Begin Small

Even though you have manifest desires your entire life, it is when someone tells you that you can manifest your reality that the ego pulls you aside and tells you to “be real” and to “stay in the real world” that things begin to not make sense.

For me, it was a nickel. I was at a low point and had been studying and delving into living at a higher consciousness. But it was when a teacher told me to let go and to begin again in a small way. The key was to let it go and let it happen naturally and in an organic way.

I remember thinking about it as i shifted thoughts to it as i drifted off to sleep. A nickel clearly popped into my mind and i almost laughed at the simplicity of it.

You see, it has to make sense and it cannot be something then that you then manufacture in a way that is senseless.

The next morning, being one of the first in my local coffee shop, i went to plug in my computer and there it was. A nickel sitting there. The truth is that this part of the restaurant was swept and mopped every night before closing. This i knew as i knew the night manager and that she insisted on it from her crew.

You understand that it was not the nickel, really, but that it was manifest into my reality. If it can be a nickel in an organic manner, anything is possible. It is only the mind that keeps us tied to a small reality for ourselves.

Way 2: Let it Go

So often when people delve into the teachings of The Law of Attraction, they quickly become disenchanted as it doesn’t happen as they think it should be, usually in the time they think. This is the “It doesn’t work for me” mindset that fills the reality of those who think in the smallness of the egocentric life that most find themselves in.

Like in the story of the nickel, i had to “Let it go” to the point that i said it and released it but that i would know exactly when it was fulfilled into my reality. The Universe knew i needed it immediately and in such a way that it was evident.

It was!

You have to be willing to release it and live in the moment. If you are truly aware, then you will be ever mindful of the actuality of the manifesting as it occurs. It will make sense and your spirit will have a sense of peace and calm.

Way 3: Be Present and Have Faith

I cannot stress enough the Now Moment you are within. If i would have been constantly looking for the nickel, searching in all places, looking in every nook and cranny, then really it was a senseless display of faith and the very act of searching was a display of faithless living.

If you are in harmony with your true nature, the manifesting you will undertake will be in harmony with who you are as a Universal Creature. Living in a faith of expectancy will allow your manifesting to deliver your reality in such a way that others will say you are “lucky”. But you will understand that your manifesting has delivered the reality that you desired for yourself that serves the common good.

Living in the Now Moment and knowing deep within your core that all is happening as you expect it to, and that the Universe makes no mistakes, is the truth in manifesting a beautiful life for yourself.

Now go and manifest the life you desire, for as you do, you shall lift those around you in the process.

The Kindness in Abundance – 3 Ways To Live In The Kindness of Abundance

Abundance has its own cadence that seems to echo within the far reaches of the soul. Within this rhythm of life, there is a kindness that must be exhibited in all ways that stems from the very heart of the abundance within or it is as shallow as life itself then becomes.

Most don’t seem to make the connection to kindness and abundance as they seem to believe that one becomes kind because of the abundance. This, too, is somewhat of a fake mission of the soul as the ego goes about its work in your general unworthiness as you struggle with any abundance that you may receive.

For example, you see this in many an actor who struggles for years doing odd jobs as they try to put together a career as an actor. When they become an “overnight success”, or so it would seem, their new financial abundance comes with a price of guilt and a general feeling of unworthiness. Having struggled for so long, they then many times become involved with causes and concerns that seemingly come from left field as well as their display of a lavish lifestyle.

While i fault no one for achieving as is the human condition to expand, create and flourish, it is when the ego takes over where kindness should have already been in place, that it then becomes problematic.

Kindness is something that is so deep and beautiful within you that you cannot help but to lift all around you within the very abundance that you are; financially and in every other way. Kindness is a condition of the heart and an extension of the soul that transcends the abundance.

3 Ways to Live Within the Kindness of Abundance

Abundance, then, becomes simply another way to empower humankind magnetized by the kindness that gives it its beauty.

Way 1: Understand That Kindness Transcends Abundance

Abundance is always a heart condition before it is ever manifest in the physical world. Abundance is neither a station in life or something that is out there to obtain, even though society and your ego seek to tell you differently.

The very definition of kindness is compassion and generosity and without those traits exhibited, abundance becomes nothing more that a life expression such as hording. Abundance, then, is parceled out from you like some sort of rare concert ticket to all around you.

Unfortunately, you then become nothing more than the substance of your abundance lacking kindness, lacking integrity and lacking heart.

Way 2: Be Willing to Lose Yourself in the Grace of Kindness

Kindness cannot be taught or learned, really, but must be experienced in the depths of soul that could never be explained.

Yes, parents and authority figures seek to establish a taste of kindness within you by instilling in you the traits of kindness, but without a genuine experience that contains the essence of what kindness produces within you, it is like shaving cream on a balloon; when it pops, the shaving cream goes everywhere leaving only traces of what was.

Usually, this grace is an overwhelming experience that washes over you and shows you a newness of life and then becomes the core of who you are. More often than not, people can point to that exact moment in life when the grace of kindness became their reality and then became a guide that fueled their Now Moments of Kindness.

But you must lose yourself in this grace. No one can teach you this but only show you the way, but the secret is in the losing, for it is in the losing that you gain.

Way 3: You Must Be Willing to Make a Shift in Kindness

In this world, we honor when souls go out of their way to be kind. It is held up as a true testament to the soul of the person that exhibited the kindness, but it is available to all. Abundance does not produce kindness, but the other way around.

If you truly lose yourself in the kindness that is soul based, then the world becomes a sweeter existence in your living of your Present Moments. Kindness then becomes not a mere doing of things, but of living in the ways of graciousness and goodwill with an eye on humanity.

Kindness, then, becomes the way the world has now been transformed into because you have become the kindness that the world needs.

Abundance now becomes second nature to you because you have allowed the powering source of kindness into your existence. You have made the shift.

Kindness is always a true reflection of the soul that becomes it and when you allow kindness to manifest the ways of your life, then abundance will naturally follow in ways you could have never imagined. Just be willing to allow it to flow and grow in each Now Moment for only there will you truly live.

Be a Person of Quality. Direct Your Power.

Until then…

Why Do You Do The Things You Do? 3 Ways To Relieve The Stress of Life

Life is filled with one reaction after another. Everything seems to be stressful and the aspect of ‘flying off the handle’ or ‘having a knee-jerk reaction’ to something seems to be fairly acceptable these days. Well, if happens too often, we can always get a pill prescribed as seems to be the way in these stressful times..

But really there seems to be a heart condition that is far more spiritual, in nature, than is physical. Although, it has been proven that our stress of being reactive to every thing can, indeed, lead to physical ailments.

What, then, is at the heart of such a rapid decline of civility within ourselves that translates outward into our reality? Why do we find ways to be insulted and grouped together in our victimization?

Is it that we really desire that connection, even if it is through stress of living? Maybe technology has spread us out so far and wide that it is difficult to truly be connected as we are designed to be, one heart to another.

You know, where i sit and write often, there is a group of older, retired men that sit in the local coffee shop and, together, they solve the town’s, country’s and even the world’s challenges in a matter of minutes over a nice cup of coffee.

These men sit together and are seemingly unconnected, except through the coffee club that has connected them. Yet it seems as if there is a peaceful connection that they bring to the restaurant and to each other that cannot be spoken. It is a place of peace within them.

While it is fascinating to hear them as they solve the crisis of the world, there seems to be a far-reaching truth here; the connection that binds them is a connection of the heart and therein lies the truth to a stress-free existence.

Now, some would indeed argue that often relationships are the source of all stress, but i am of the mindset that the relationships that are truly bound together are seldom built on verbal discourse, but of a heart-to-heart connection that is at its source, the place where stress is seldom experienced.

3 Ways to Relieve the Stress of Life

Think about a relationship with a pet. Never words are spoken, but there is a connection that transcends words and lives within the spirit, does it not?Does it not relieve a stress within you?

Way 1: Understand Your Part in the Stream of Life

Now i am certainly not going to sit here and tell you to ‘buck up’ and not to experience life in the ways it is to be experienced, but i am here to lead you to a new reality of your part in the stream of life.

Nothing happens to you as life is not out to get you.

It s easy to get caught up in being a victim to circumstances, to people, to the challenges that seem to surround you on a daily basis.

But, quite frankly, its not them (not life), it’s you. Most have experienced those little words in terms of a relationship gone awry, but it is time for you to say it to life, “it’s not you, it’s me.”

You see, when you can back off and understand that you, and only you, are the responsible party when it comes to living life in the fullness that is our mission in which to do, life becomes a sweeter version of itself.

Life does not happen to you, you are the captain that steers the course. Yes, often times storms can seem to take us away from our course, but if we release the ego and take back the helm from being a victim, we can command the ship return to the designated course that has been designed for us.

You are still here and therefore your course is still as viable as ever.

Way 2: Find Your Happy Place

It has become quite a cliche that we have a ‘Happy Place’ that we go to in times to conflict, but understand that there is a place that many do retreat to that seems to manifest on the external, often times in ways that seem detrimental such as drugs, alcohol, and unhealthy relationships, just to name a few.

However, these things are just an extension of the internal desire to find that place of bliss that is our inner core of peace. Really, then, it comes down to the questions we ask at this point.

What is the external seeking to manifest from within?
What is the stillness that must be found within that gives me peace on the outside?

Where is that place within me that is my calm?

There is a danger here to give another that power which you must resist. Understand that the person or place or thing that you associate with your happiness factor is an extension of something within.

Really sit and source it out for yourself, for at the heart of that understanding is the key to living stress-free.

Way 3: Release Yourself to the Moment of Now

Life happens now and at the source of most stress are the future events that are supposed to happen in some perfect completion or some past that did not happen as planned and is now infecting your Now Moment existence.

This existence of Now is your Happy Place as you are here, are you not? Anything that was supposed to cause you some type of dire consequences has not kept you from this Now Moment. There is nothing that the past supposedly was matters to this exact Now Moment. There is no future as of yet that can not be dealt with.

Ask, “What is the worse that can happen?” if you must, and find a place in this Now Moment to live free of it all, because whether you know it or not, you already are doing so.

Enjoy the sights and sounds of your surroundings. Meditate silently in the conversations of those around you and just listen to the way they speak, the way they reflect as they speak. Notice the nuances of every little action and reaction for when you become ever-present in the Now Moments of life, there is little left for the stress of what should or might be or has been.

Live, now, free of the reactions of living and become the action of living free within yourself. For here alone, is the place of peace that transcends into a life of serenity.

We Have Met the Enemy And He Is Us; 3 Ways to Begin to Find Your Harmony

On any given day, some aspect of yourself shows up to be the dominant force that outshines the rest of you. Unfortunately, we look at as if we are in some kind of sales contest within ourselves that seeks to win over the all other parts of yourself.

It is like some Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde experience that the ego has set up to rule you. What is even more important, is that the ego seeks to bring forth doubt within yourself to keep you slightly off balance so as to never cease the incessant reliance on the very aspect of yourself, the ego, that brought you to this point to begin with.

If i was going to illustrate with a theatrical production, it would have to be the play written by David Mamet, called, “Glengarry Glen Ross.”

Wikipedia describes it as: Glengarry Glen Ross is a 1984 play written by David Mamet. The play shows parts of two days in the lives of four desperate Chicago real estate agents who are prepared to engage in any number of unethical, illegal acts—from lies and flattery to bribery, threats, intimidation and burglary—to sell undesirable real estate to unwitting prospective buyers. The play draws partly on Mamet’s experiences in a Chicago real estate office, where he worked briefly in the late 1960s. The title of the play comes from the names of two of the real estate developments being peddled by the salesmen characters, Glengarry Highlands and Glen Ross Farms.

You see, this play pits these four characters against one another and they each go through their own personal hell trying to define the line in which they will cross to be number one within the office and to become the superior over the others.

Really, this is nothing different than the way the ego pits you against yourself and it is as if you, too, are in your own personal hell as you look to see what lines you, also, will cross. In this day of so many resorting to medications to try to calm that part of them that is out of balance with the rest, it may come down to understanding that the truth out there is really within.

There was a great comic years ago called Pogo, that had a simple panel with the character that was simply contemplating while saying, “We have met the enemy and he is us.” I remember that having a profound effect on me as a kid and it really started me, at an early age, into a more reflective path probably than most my age.

Of course, the universe makes no mistakes and i was destined to be as such.

Of course, i also remember a Calvin and Hobbes comic that had Calvin talking to his pet stuffed tiger, Hobbes, as they were having a discussion about life being like a play.

Calvin says, “They say the world is a stage. But obviously the play is unrehearsed and everybody is ad-libbing his lines.

Hobbes: Maybe that’s why it’s hard to tell if we’re living in a tragedy or a farce.

Calvin: We need more special effects and dance numbers.”

I guess, somewhere in the middle between Pogo and Calvin and Hobbes, there is truth.

Of course, i jest. In actuality, there is a magnificent Creator and a Universal Way that really is contained within us all if we but stop and look. But sometimes, we are indeed our own worse enemy and are indeed, the manipulative salesmen of Glengarry Glen Ross to our own selves.

3 Ways to Begin to Bring Harmony Within

However, here is the kicker; The ego starts the balls in motion and then stands back and watches. Then, after you have ‘messed everything up’, rushes in to ‘save’ you. The quotes are intentional, by the way, as ‘messing everything up’ is only a matter of perspective and the ego can never ‘save’ you from anything.

Way 1: On Any Given Day, Assess Who is In Charge

Think of yourself as a call center of sorts. All kinds of demands, calls, are coming in and yet, one person seems to be really on top of their game that day, handling all calls with a joyful countenance.

Here is where the ego tries to begin the battle. Jealousy of each part within yourself that then transmits outside of yourself. Think about it. How come one day a comment is said to you that you seem to laugh off but said another day, will send you ‘over the edge.’

Is it the comment then? Probably not. But more importantly, the egoic state you are in. This is why it is so important that you begin by looking within at who is coming to play today. When you can begin in self-reflection and not being purely reactive, then you can begin to assess the real you.

Way 2: Understand That Reactions are not Actions but are a Defense. They Are Not the Real You

In football, it is said that while having a great defense is mandatory, Defense does not Win Games; it is the actions that you do on the Offense that makes the difference.

I suppose this can be said of life as well, in that, if all we are in any given day are the reactions that we bring into the day, then we are playing from a defensive posture alone. For when we lose our Now Moments with reactions alone, the we have forfeited the game already.

Start by asking questions when desiring to react. Questions such as, “Is there a better way here to look at this? Is this person coming from their own personal Glengarry Glen Ross situation? Essentially, when you take the time to ask, the reaction may be diffused. Of course, if you can find your harmony to begin with, the reactive state may be nullified once and for all.

Way 3: Be Unashamed of Who You Are

All of the staff within your office that is “You, inc.” are never to be at odds with one another. Instead, you are to compliment one another and each part becomes the ‘ying’ to your ‘yang’ within.

You see, the ego would have you fighting within yourself in such a way that self-doubt and insecurities are rampant and are then portrayed to the outside world. A non-harmonious state then becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

If you are unashamed of the parts that make up the total you, then you will begin to feel that harmony that must be part of every being on the planet.

But here is the thing… Harmony is always an inside job first. What many do is try to become the peacemakers for an outside world without first going within. Embrace who you are and care not for the opinions of others.

Have you office working together in “You, inc.” and the outside world will become a bit more radiant to you.

3 Questions to Ask About The Quality of Your Commitments

There was an advertising slogan from years ago from Zenith who made electronics that stated in its tag line, “The Quality goes in before the Name goes on.”

Of course the imagery followed that Zenith cared about the product as a company and that they did their best to ensure that very essence as a company. However, the quality in such a thing as building electronics, or in any company that attempts to serve the human good, is only as good as the quality of the employees that make up your organization.

This is why, often times, when a company gets so big and bloated, such as IBM had gotten at the beginning of the computer revolution that encapsulated the 80’s, companies such as Apple and Microsoft were able to come in and grab the interest with high quality and a pure, unsaturated message of not only quality, but of a commitment to that quality.

In a previous post, it was asked of you to look at the very nature of the words that make up commitment. To define, for yourself, the nature of the idea of commitment for yourself and how you see your world as a result of that assessment.

We now look at the essence of the real meaning of commitment; the quality that makes and defines your commitment.

You see, the very word quality in our current corporate climate, seems to be more of a phrase lacking a heart. The very essence of quality now seems to be given to those niche companies that excel at customer service and a real dedication to a corporate environment that fosters that creative intellect that is necessary to maintain a quality experience.

In your own live, then, it becomes a serve for that niche-quality factor, as i like to call it, that sets you apart from others as a creative and dynamic human being.

3 Questions to Ask About the Quality of the Commitments in Your Life

It really comes down to the questions you ask about your commitments and what is the driving force behind those commitments that instill a sense of quality to your life.

Question 1: Do Your Commitments Define you or You Your Commitments

At the very heart of all commitments is the real question as to what you bring to the commitment. Do you notice if the commitments that you are involved in have a sense of purpose to them? Yes, there are projects that you may be involved in that seem more of a ‘got to do’ but, there is still something that inspires you on some level from a broader perspective that drives you to some form of quality within that commitment, right?

There is a piece of you contained within the commitment. So you see the reason you must ask the question of the commitment to begin with; Does it define you or you, it?

Question 2: Could You Define Personally, the Commitments that You are Involved in?

As in anything we do, believe it or not, we bring a set of values to that which we are involved in,or at least we should. At the heart of this is the very reason why people lack a sense of quality in that which they are involved, they don’t believe or even know who they are at their core.

We have all heard or read accounts of people who had, what seemed as, jobs that others might see as trivial, but they did it with such a beautiful sense of purpose and with a sense of knowing who they were in the Universal way of life, that the ‘so-called’ menial job became their platform for embracing humanity.

They, then, defined the commitment because they had defined themselves.

Question 3: Does the Quality of Your Life Reflect Your Commitments?

You know the old story that is in the parents handbook that they fall back to when you were a kid.

They say, ‘If little Johnny jumped off a bridge, would you do it too?’

It is a question that parents ask you when they want you to not associate with someone they don’t desire for you. But seldom does that statement really work in that the absurdity of it is always laughable.

But that’s the point.

Most would not jump off a bridge anyway, nor would little Johnny. But the parental handbook usually only gives the pithy sayings without regard for the larger principles that were to be defined. So we are often left with fragments of sayings crawling around our heads of mush as we grow into adulthood, whenever that happens.

But the larger principle is that we are to live a life of quality in every aspect of who we are.

Now, quality is, again, a subjective definition in that we all have different standards, different core values, when it comes to quality. But, in the larger sense, we seem to know intrinsically a quality product and a quality individual. Somehow it is just a sense of who we are from a soul level that gives us this insight.

In a sense, then, we are not only the company we keep, but the commitments we keep as well.

Become the quality that is a joyful life as that is our existence and ask the questions that lead you there.

Be a Person of Quality. Direct Your Power.

Until then…

Be Excellent, Expect the Best!

3 Ways Out of Ego’s Assumptive Hold

There is an old saying that says that when you actually break the word, ASSUME, into its designated parts, you slash between the second “S” and after the “U” to say that when you assume, you make and ASS out of U and ME.

This is the very nature of assuming and assumptions. It is the way the ego keeps you forever guessing about the nature of life and people in general as well as constantly second-guessing yourself based on these illogical and irrational assumptions.

Assumptions are often cleverly disguised as hope and dreams but are, more often than not, just the egos way of keeping you in check. Another way assumptions are disguised in hope is in the form of worry and all its incarnations.

You see, your ego is like an onion with layers and layers of skin and the closer you get to the actual core of the ego, the more it makes you cry as you come to understand its hold on you. So most don’t take the trip to the core to rid themselves of its affect on their lives.

But it is a journey that must be forged for the dangers of not doing so are a life of constant second-guessing of your life. It means living so out of phase with the very nature that we are, love, that it becomes a convoluted mess that seemingly makes no sense.

Like the layers of an onion, we will slowly uncover that which has bound you. As we do so with the very nature of assumptions, please don’t assume anything here. It is all intertwined and as the layers begin to expose the ego, you will begin to understand the way the ego has turned you against yourself all in the name of “protecting” you.

From what, we are not quite sure of, but it is a journey to take for clarity and for love.

Assumptions are a benevolent dictator, of sorts, that the ego uses to guide you. It is actually the very nature of what many magicians use to guide you along a path of being truly amazed. We assume so much and the ego knows that, but the more we are lost within them, the more natural they feel to us.

3 Ways to Neutralize the Ego and Assumptions

The Way #1: Understand the Nature of Truth

Understand that at the heart of all assumptions are truths that you hold dear that are not truths at all. When Columbus took out to find whatever he was looking for, you know that many at that time assumed that earth was flat and that Columbus and the gang would fall off into space. Of course we laugh, but we would probably have believed it if we lived back then.

Assumptions are usually based on many shifting ideas while truth just is. This is why scientist do what they do; discover the truth. But scientist are not Gods, in that as soon as they spout some theory, and yes, many things are theories, they are taken as truths. Unfortunately we assume they are and give their words truth.

Gravity is truth, but we have learned to defy gravity, have we not?

All i am saying is that your truth is your truth and be clear about the nature of that truth for you. Just be very careful that the ego doesn’t subvert that truth for its own devices.

The Way #2: The Ass out of U and Me Approach

When faced with an apparent assumption, back off and cut it up. If you become a scientist testing out all of the hypothesis, will the assumption pass your truth test? Is the ego at all involved in any part of the assumption? (Uhh… the answer here is usually, “Yes”)

Here is an example from a client. A lady was talking of her daughters divorce and she was concerned with someone who she was interested in dating.

She made an assumption based on the father of the family, that all boys would be exactly like the father who had a reputation for being somewhat of a “ladies man”, or so she said. So she assumed that all of the boys would be exactly as their father who had been married several times, therefor they would be unfaithful as well. I asked her if she had met the one boy her daughter was interested in. She replied, “No, but i am sure he like his daddy.”

I see it often as a coach in life and in business; people make assumptions that have no bearing in truth at all but then hold those assumptions as truth, often to the detriment of future Now Moments decisions.

The ego is a sly one and will use every trick to keep you from living life from the heart and keeping you from your truth.

The Way #3: Identify Your Core Values

This is an exercise that many don’t seem to want to do, but think they know what they are. The challenge here is asking yourself if you have allowed your ego and others, through assumptions and upbringing, to decide for you these values.

Often, when i have a coaching client that is entrepreneurial, i see several patters that emerge; a ‘breakaway’ from a preconceived track that others thought for him/her. An understanding that they are to serve the greater good by becoming a creator and an inherent view of something larger than themselves.

At the heart of it, however, was a grounding in the values that are their truth. The beautiful thing about values is that they are your truth and yours alone. it is only when the ego or the assumption that others no better for you, that they become a muddled mess.

Identify your core values and be truthful here. Don’t allow the ego or any preconceived assumptions about life skew your list. you can do it in private. Identify the top 10 to 15 for yourself and maybe the top 25 to 50 overall.

Here is a great list for you to look over to get you started.

Then go about living by Directing Your Own Life to that end. It is only your life to live and yours alone, never allow the ego and assumptions to set the stage for you.

Until then…

Be Excellent, Expect the Best.

3 Ways to Allow the Ego to Not Determine Your Future Happiness

“Get your head out of the clouds son and think about your future.” my dad would tell me.

As i now look at the lunacy of that statement as a Present Moment thinker and coach, i have begun to breech the very nature of the future as a place the ego likes to keep us forever tied as a place where it, alone, has the answers of your hopes and dreams.

How could you ever doubt the ego, right? I mean, as long as you are forever looking forward, the very Now of it all is certainly of no concern.

But the trap is set and we have all fallen victim to it, or maybe, are in its clutches in this very Now Moment. The future, that glorious hope that this stinking Now Moment won’t exist. The very device that the ego keeps you from seeing beauty in this Present Moment keeps most from the understanding that when the “future” gets here, what is it really?

It is the Now Moment.

But the ego has a powerful ally in its always endeavor of a future pull; Life and all who participate and tell you as much to begin with.

We are told from as far back as babies that the future is all that matters. Kids are even told as early as kindergarten to choose a career path and encouraged to think of the resources that are needed to get there in the future.

Really?

Yes, we all have a destiny within us, that which gives our souls that sense of eternity, but it is a journey of self discovery that should be allowed to manifest in an organic way within each ones own individual journey.

Hollywood movies and accounts of famous people throughout the ages have heralded the journey of those who have “bucked the system” and struck out on their own to find their destiny according to themselves. You see, when you allow others and the ego to always think of the future and what you ‘should’ be doing, this Now Moment becomes unimportant. Essentially, reality can only truly exist then in some future event.

When you say it like that, it sounds ridiculous does it not?

I liken the future as telling someone to ‘try’ and pick up a glass from a counter. They can either pick up the glass or not pick up the glass, you cannot ‘try’ to. That, in essence, is the future. It is always something that is simply a ‘try’ scenario; you are trying to make it something it is not.

Yoda said it best when talking to Luke Skywalker, “Do or do not, there is no try.” You have got to admit that that little green Jedi Master knew what to say, right?

Living in some future reality is the actual living with ‘your head in the clouds.’  The future is not here nor shall it be as the ego designs it for you. Many people fall into the landmines of future happiness in some future relationship, some future perfect job, some future perfect living conditions. This is at the heart of stress and depression for many people; the future not as planned.

Let me give you an analogy here. As a director, i would give people a script at the beginning of rehearsals that defined the parameter of the show. We had the future in our hands, but what brings uniqueness to the future are not the set words written in the script, but the actors that are saying the words, bringing life to them.

As much as we all know as we rehearse the play, the future of how it will end, the performance is as mysterious as any future ever is. Will the actor say all of the words in the script as written? Maybe, maybe not, but one thing is for sure, the only moment we have to make the show flow is to bring the Now Moments we spend on the script to light on Opening Night and beyond.

The ego always has your head in the clouds and it is called the future, and it is not written yet.

3 Ways to Allow the Ego to Not Determine Future Happiness

Step 1: Understand that the past is called that for a reason, it is gone and no longer defines you.

Many fall into the trap of being forever tied to a past comment, emotion or event that is supposed to become their future. While they are tied there, they become then so embroiled within it that the future then becomes this constant embracing of the past, trying to ‘make it right’.

Typical tactic of the ego in that as long as it can keep you in the past or so tied up in the past that you are forever striving to make it a better future, you are forever kept of balance and never fully capable of connecting with the truth that is you.

Many times you see it of people who come from a dysfunctional home environment when they say that they will never be like the environment that they came from. On the surface, that sounds admirable, but when you are so tied to an identity of what you don’t want to become that it is all you do to not become it, you never fully define the truth of who you are in this Now Moment.

Step 2: Release the preconceived ideas and emotions of others about your journey

Hollywood loves making movies about the person in a family who doesn’t desire to go into the family business and seeks out on a journey of self-discovery.

Why do you think that movies such as these speaks to us so deeply?

Because it is in our very core, especially if we have indeed done something that is really counter-intuitive to who we are deep inside. We are on the journey that is ours alone. If it is what your family and does indeed bring you joy, it is in your core, then by all means become your destiny. But when guilt defines your journey, it is the simple act of the ego defining who you are and will always take you from the joy of Now Moments.

Step 3: Understand that this Now Moment is the only future you have.

When you put away the guilt of what others think your journey should be and focus on what it is within you, what brings you joy, then become that journey.

As i don’t subscribe to the concept of regret, as it is merely an egoic way of living in some past that the ego uses to define you current reality, this Now Moment becomes the place to leave it where it belongs; buried and left on its own.

There is a truth in living as a creature of joy and not allowing some future to be as much for you. Like Opening Night, we know the future may exist, but there is no guarantee. It is in the rehearsal in this Now Moment that defines any future Now Moments that might become your reality.

Live them brilliantly for that is the only truth you will ever truly experience

Be Excellent, Expect the Best.
